Federal Fusion 150gr

Post by RLunyATL »

Anybody got hands on this yet? Just got an in-stock notice from Midway, and I'm tempted, but just wondering how these perform. Appears to be the same 150gr bullet they use in the .308 and .30-06 offerings, but going MUCH slower (1900 fps for 300blk, 2770 for .308 and 2900 for .30-06). Does anyone know the expansion threshold for this particular bullet? I would have preferred if they came out with an offering in the 110-130gr range for the 300blk but it is what it is.

There is a thread on arfcom about this particular ammo.

Mrgunsngear did a gel test with a short barrel and it was moving like 1750 FPS. It did expand and it penetrated like 20 inches. I would have preferred a 90-110 grain bullet at high speed, but it does kind of make sense to offer it in the same grain that a ton of plinking ammo is offered. I'd love to see them also offer a 220 grain sub that will expand and a high speed lightweight super. I believe they offer a couple different loadings for the 6.8 SPC, 300 would also really benefit from that.
