I've typed this out multiple times and it finally posted.

I know the HTP has the BT but is the Hog Ham.er the FB?

If you had to chose a bullet that's factory loaded as well as had the ability to handload, would you take this stuff, the Hog Hammer, or the Barnes VorTX 120 gr? I ask about these weights because of their decent BC.

I've been onto long range shooting so BC is where my head is at. I realize at 300 Blk distances, it won't matter much, but still. I like the idea of higher BC than the 110 TacTX and still expand at distances a 5.56 can't touch.

Factory loaded is the deal breaker, or I would go with the Speer 150 Gold Dot for Blackout. If you use 2200 as your velocity and compare to a 110 Barnes at 2400 you might be surprised.

For factory loads all that you mentioned will be about the same, just depends on what’s shots best for you.

I thought about the 150 Speer Gold Dot but it needs a 16" barrel to provide the velocity just to expand at 200 yards. Not that I envision actualnling range shooting but uve only got a 14.7" barrel.

The 120 TacTX and 130 TSX both expand at lower velocities which will be great for my barrel and the 12.5" I also have.

I know you're the handload master but do you have any idea on the difference between the HTP and Hog Hammer?

I have not tried any of the newer HTP so really have no idea.

The Speer 150 in my 12.5” bolt action is 2180 fps and about 3/4” at 200 yards. I would probably trust it to 250-300 yards hunting. Past that I would want to shoot a bunch more at 1500 fps to see how they perform and verify drops.

If those were my choices I'd go with the VorTX, because I know the bullet performs. Haven't seen the HTP in action. I have seen the 300 BLK Hog Hammer ammo in action and was not impressed. Guy I was hunting with shot a 50-60 lb. pig in the neck at around 70 yards and the bullet penciled through. Pig ran so he shot again, and again, and again...a total of five hits before it dropped, none of which expanded much. I don't believe the bullet in the Hog Hammer ammo is designed for 300 BLK velocities.

Like Dellet, it's my opinion that the 150 GD out performs all of the above, and it's now my 300 BLK hunting bullet.

300 yards from a 12.5" is pretty awesome. Maybe with a 14.7" I could get a touch further but even 300 yards due to it being a gas gun would be great. I'll have to order some. PM inbound for more questions.

Actually, I'll read the whole 150 GD thread and then send a PM with questions.
