Just starting to develop accuracy loads with this cast coated brick of a 265 grainer. Being stubborn I went with CFE BLK for powder to have good BHO on last round and very very clean burning without powder residue in the lower trigger group. On to testing, deep seating shorter than 2.100" proved to be bad as groups were in the +2" 50 yard range. A 10.2 grain charge of CFE BLK had last round BHO however it was too slow and I needed 4 clicks from max elevation to hit zero at 50 yards! After a OCW test I found 12 grains to be most accurate with a 2.100" C.O.L. this gave me plenty of left over elevation on the 6-18 scope to later dial up for the 100 yard desired testing. Fast forward to 12 grains at 2.120" proudced sub 1/2" @ 50 yards with an ocasional flyer then as I pushed the bullet out further I found another node at 1.150" again 1/2" this time slightly crescent shape.

I loaded more test rounds to test up to 2.180" C.O.L. once I settle on a node I'll tune a few +/- 1/10 grain loads for better groups.

Purpose built for sub work.

First groups at 100 yards with the 265 DS Special. I was adjusting the gas block to tune this load and found 9 clicks out from seated tightened up the load grouping. Good solid bolt hold open with all that extra gas going down the bore pushing that big ol hunk of lead!

I used the upper dot ( not in picture, it's just above the target ) for P.O.A. with a 50 yard zero. about 5" of drop out to 100 yards. More load tuning to hopefully get that sub-moa node.

Looks pretty close there with the 5 circled Bob. 4 bullets high, 3 wide. A lot of people would be pretty happy with what you have there, but we all know you are not most people. :P

I've been getting 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards using 7 grains viht N-105 seated to 2.20 in my rem bolt gun.
A little bit harder to push the bolt down but feeds better loaded longer.
The load is the quietest one I've shot.

I found the same thing, but do not remember the exact length.

With the long bore rider portion of the bullet, the ogive looks like a shoulder at the base of a long nose. This is where that bullet jams the rifling.

It's such a tight fit I have to clean the barrel like it's got a carbon ring.
I usually use carb cleaner followed by slip 2000 and clp.
I've found that gunzilla works well with powder coated bullets also for regular barrel cleaning.
Most cast shooting accuracy seems to get better when the bullet engraves into the lands.
I can get my 45-70 highwall shooting around an inch at 100 engraving in the lands.
The rem bolt gun is interesting to be able to push a bullet in that engraves more than single shot rifles.
Starting with a very clean barrel seems to make a difference.
