Starting a build of SBR, recommend me a good barrel

Post by R2BRO »

Alrright, i have 5.56, 6.5G, and now im about to make an AR for CqC mainly for 0-50m range.

So, I need a recommendation for barrel. Constraints below:
  • I will NOT shoot cast lead bullets from it
  • I will be shooting the most heavy bullets with suppressor / subsonic (this is true for most of the case)
  • I will also be shooting the supersonic rounds occasionally too
  • I plan to do plenty of mag dumps (considering binary trigger as well)
  • I definitely will build a PISTON system w/adjustable gas block
  • barrel length must NOT be more than 9"
NOTE: Although priority as I stated before is 0-50m range, I will be curious to exercise its precision at 200m with subsonic rounds.

so given the above constraints, any suggestions/links to barrels?

SOOO, a purpose built gun for pistol range mag dumps with a piston that also doubles as a 200 yd subsonic gun...

I'd probably get the cheapest 9" barrel you can find so when you shoot it out prematurely with the mag dumps, you aren't out too much money.

I have barrels from CMMG and Balllistic Advantage and am happy with each. Check www.righttobear.com for great barrel prices.

Many others have spoken well of KAK barrels

PSA has some fairly inexpensive barrels including Nitride barrels which should last a little longer for you.

You may want to give BA a look. They have some inexpensive short barrels that should be gtg
