When I did the initial testing for this bullet stopped testing expansion at 1600 fps. My thought was that at that speed, the drop every 10 yards became more than most hunting conditions would be practical. At 2200 fps that would be around 350 yards. Even at 1800 fps that give you 125 yards with 1600 fps impact.

Time permitted I will shoot some down to 1400.

Based on 2200 fps that would be an effective range of 475 yards with a 66" drop and 643 pounds energy on a 200 yard zero.

For comparison, the Barnes 110 at 2400 fps with the same zero would be at about 1375 fps and have 64" drop and hit with 464 pounds at the same distance.

Dellet, Thanks for considering taking a lower velocity look at these.

Since I went off on this micro/shorty barrel build, I had eliminated these 150s based on the 1,700 FPS threshold.

If they still expand at around 1,400 fps, then they may work in my 6” barrel.

Also, while you’re thinking about it, would these Gold Dots still be a candidate for Accurate 11FS in the short barrels? I had planned on picking up a can to try it.

1475 fps, tumbled, 22" penetration. I will try and drop a bit more, but that's probably getting close to minimum.

Dellet, thanks for the expansion tests! I'm looking forward to testing the 150 GD in my RARR. I made a drop tube of 16" out of some copper tubing, initial testing seems to compact 1680 a bit more than without the drop. 2200 fps would be darn ideal, just not sure if that will be possible in this rifle. We had our first snow flurries this morning, later turned to rain. Looks like winter wants an early start. I do hope to get my chrono data before things turn Arctic.

I have 180 gr Speer FB Sp's doing about 1800, they make impressive wacks on steel at 100 yds. with MOA ish accuracy.

Thanks again 8)

That's an understatement. I loaded up some just to check velocity/pressure. This is 10 shots from my M7 at 50 yards using Shooter's World powder and BR4 primers. They span 3 grains of powder and ~270 fps in velocity. I pulled the last shot (top right) after the mosquitoes had drained half my blood and I was getting a little dizzy.

No compression needed and no pressure signs at 2250 fps...should easily be able to hit 2300+ in the bolt action.

Thanks for your work on this, dellet. This is definitely the new hunting bullet.

Very encouraging indeed! I need to get my hands on some Shooters World, never tried it before. Hope to find a local hand loader who has a sample for me to trade into, otherwise it's the mail order freight/hazmat route.
