Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
Hopefully, I can get to the range this weekend and try it to 300 and get some velocity averages to 100. I think dellet is on to a true BC number, at least more realistic. Once that is established, accurate dope charts can be made.

Got in a few boxes to work up loads with...I am with the crowd that the published BC appears to be a little high
Initial start loads were a hair over 2000, I load for a pair of 16" ARs, so my go to powders are MP300 and 296/110 so I have room to move up. Once I get "there" where velocity and accuracy max out, a good BC would be most helpful. Hopefully, will have some gold dots left to load!!

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
I’m a huge fan of Speer gold dot ammo/bullets. I ordered a bunch for my .223 (62 grain). Very accurate out of my AR’s.
Recently ordered some Speer 150 grain Hot Cor spire points. My idea was to work up a load on my AR10. But with your results listed I’m wondering what kind of performance I can expect out of the Blackout?

Look at the picture in the first post in this thread. edit - the picture and the thread are about the gold dots, the HC 150 was designed for the 308 Win. and it's velocities, not the 300 Blk. This new gold dot is a 300 ACC specific bullet.meatsweats wrote:I’m a huge fan of Speer gold dot ammo/bullets. I ordered a bunch for my .223 (62 grain). Very accurate out of my AR’s.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
I pushed past 17.8 of 296 at the suggested OAL, but lost accuracy and ran into pressure signs. So unless I lengthen the OAL, I found the most happy at 17.8 at a avg of 2050 from a 16" barrel.
Will venture off into the 300-MP for the next range run and see what turns out. I got some Lil Gun as well, but have never liked it with supers.

I've been there and tried that. The 150 Hot Cor barely expand at 100 yards and pencil through 20+ inches of wetpack losing the jacket at 200 out of my 16" Blackout AR.meatsweats wrote:

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
I'm hoping to see a heavier version for this bullet for subsonic use. Can Speer pull it off? Can they make a 190ish grain bullet that expands at low velocity?

Other companies have.

Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
Well, I just finished loading up 50 rounds.
I'm hoping to get to the range in the next day or so, if the rain stops.
25 rounds H110,
15.7, 16.2, 16.7, 17.2, and 17.7 grains loaded to 2.180 oal.
25 rounds CFE BLK,
19.5, 20.0, 20.5, 21.0, and 21.5 grains loaded to 2.180 oal.
I will be shooting a Ruger American, and I will be interested in seeing accuracy and velocities (taken with magnetospeed V3).
I'll post results when I have them.

I may have been on the losing side, but, I'm not convinced it was the wrong side.
Re: Speer Gold Dot 150 BLK
Needed to try this bullet in an AR, used my 8" 1/5 X twist XCaliber with a 1X6 Accupoint. Also tried a new powder, Accurate 11FS. It's been out about a year and this is the first honest effort with it as a super. Works reasonably well with subs, but the powder is another thread.
Worked up a load at 50, Having a bit of trouble figuring BC, but dialed in pretty quick.
Took a total of 7 shots, scope is MIL Dot, so adjustments aren't as fine as I would like for targets. You can see the edge of the dime at the bottom of the diamond.
Will cross post this in the summer challenge. Here

So far with this bullet I'm pretty impressed. I would have no problem expecting a clean kill within 200 yards out of any barrel length.
Just to be clear gds, 3.75" isn't a barrel, it's a chamber

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
