300blk as a military round

Post by GTO Kroh »

I am seeing more videos and posts showing up that the military is testing 300blk as a replacement for PCC/subguns. Anyone in the loop know any truth to this? It excites me just for the fact if they do replace the 9mm sub guns with blackout that surplus could become a real possibility.

From what I understand it's already in use.

No question it is being used. Whether it will replace or enhance would be the more likely question.

There are also contractors that are also using it, but they generally are responsible for their own ammo.

When you start seeing scrap military brass available, then surplus ammo will likely only be a few years away.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

You never know what the future holds. 7.62 to replace M4?

Now that CZ, HK and others have guns in 300blk it's going to see widespread mill/law use. The problem is that it's a "secret squirrel" type of round. Hints you don't really hear much about who is actually using it.

They use the 220 SMK and the RUAG.

And to think people claimed this was a niche round and would phase out in a few years. Still my favorite round.

Though I keep thinking about trying out the 7.62x40 for that little extra supersonic boost.

thanks Dr, Phil. I was hoping there might be some cheap surplus expanding sub bullets available in the future.

I can tell you that it has seen military use as early as 5/2/2011 and possibly earlier.
