I plan on getting the Silencerco Hybrid here in the spring as my 4th but not final can and was thinking this would be the perfect platform to mount it on.

The more I researched it the less I think it would make for a suppressed subsonic gun. A 1/16" twist probably isn't suited for heavy subs. Would still make for a heck of a hog thumper though

i wish they would have done it in 460 S&W, if they could keep it so that 45LC, 454 Casul, and the big 460 could all be fired from it.

Wishful thinking but I doubt the action or the plastic stock on the Ruger could withstand the pressure of the .460 mag.

I believe they come with a muzzle brake from the factory. The recoil should be much better than an unbraked .45-70.

A muzzle brake may tame recoil but it does nothing for the action. The .460mag operates at pressures up to 65k which is on par with magnum rifle rounds. To put it in perspective when I had my .460 PC with a 10.5" barrel I used to load 300gn XTP's with 44.0gn of Lil'Gun. Muzzle velocity was almost 2100fps which equates to about 2900lbs of energy, more than a .30-06. There's a reason you don't see short action bolt guns chambered in this cartridge.

having shot 300gr xtps at ~2020 FPS out of my 450bm i can tell ya - they got some stank behind them when pushed that fast. the recoil was significantly more pronounced than factory loadings. and this was an ar platform with a heavy buffer and Ross muzzle brake in play. i can only imagine it would be borderline abusive in something light like a RARR that only weigh's in at 5.5 lbs.

unfortunately (or maybe thankfully) in my gun, the accuracy for the 300 xtp mag went to crap somewhere just north of 1800 fps or so (dont have my notes in front of me). so i dont have to beat myself up with it :)

.45 Raptor?

Meant for short actions, uses 460 S&W dies and load data, they make barrels for AR-10s, and another company is making Savage pre-fit barrels. I'd imagine the short actions would handle it just fine. I want one. No real reasons, just wants.
