Custom silencer covers

Post by Doc S »

Does anyone have any suggestions for a reputable shop that does "custom" suppressor covers? The Sig SRD762-QD I'm getting has a unique torpedo shape to it, so I'm a bit concerned about how a regular cover would fit.

I'll be using it to shift between guns at the range, so it'll have a good number of rounds going through it, though not usually at a high rate (full mag dumps are rare - 30 cal ammo ain't cheap!). It'd be nice to not have to deal with heat haze and oven mitts.

As always, thanks!

I'am not too worried what my can looks, like it's all about noise and stealth for hunting so I just use a bicycle inner tube pull over top.

Armageddon makes some of the best on the market according to the precision world (Snipers Hide guys). They make them for specific cans and have an option for the Sig. They also do custom sizing if needed. I haven't ordered mine yet, but I'll be getting one for my Saker.

Awesome! I've checked out their site, but I'll have to look a littlecloser. Thanks!

For a less expensive option, try to find this locally:

http://www.americanfiresleeve.com/aviat ... cable.html (I just did a Google search for firesleeve + my hometown)

I think I bought 3' for around $12.

Cut it to length (an x-acto knife works great!), put some high-temp silicone caulking on the ends to prevent fraying. (It's the same color as the silicone on the Firesleeve). Around $10.

Buy a proper-length MAD or HAD cover (only) from https://www.riflesonly.com/pro-shop/rif ... -gear.html for around $30.

So you can have a custom suppressor cover for around $50.

Rifles Only recommended a 6" cover - the silencer is 7" long, but the large baffle section is 6". They, of course, recommend the HAD cover. A bit more expensive, but I'll be switching the silencer from gun to gun at the range, so a bit better hand protection. I've still got plenty of time to research my options before I take possession of the silencer.

I forgot to mention TAB Gear in my first post. Another company who is well respected in precision shooting, covers are custom made. https://tabgear.configio.com/ShoppingCa ... 237&srch=t
