Ambi Magazine Release?

Post by Magnum Mike »

I did some searching and found only about 4 units. Troy, KAC, Helsomethingorother and the Norgpn. I ended up ordering the Norgon as it seemed to be the least offensive to the lower(this is going on my sbr).

While I've already ordered this model, I'd like to hear from others who've used one or more of these units.

Right now I am using a couple of the B.A.D. ASS units on my AR's. I like them because the throw levers are interchangeable for size and "feel". Also perfect fit with my AR GOLD triggers.

Take a look at their site. --- pruhdlr

I thought the B.A.D ASS was a bolt release?

I could be confused. I'm trying to research an ambidextrous mag release as well right now. Will probably be crafting a pdq bolt release in the near future.

One of my coworkers runs the Norgon or something very similar. I thought it was well thought out. Kind of pricey, but I'm a cheapskate.

Bad levers are ambi safety. I have those and like them.

I also have the Norgon ambi mag release. I like it since it blends well with the lower. It looks like it was part of the initial stoner design to me.

The one downside I have found thus far concerns a loaded mag with the bolt closed. If you want to drop that mag it requires a great deal of pressure on the mag release. I typically just hit the standard mag release button with my right thumb and pull the mag at the same time with the same hand. Unloaded mag drops with minimal pressure.

Short term assessment of the Norgon: This is now standard equipment on all future builds for me.

The Troy release has worked great for me. I went with Troy because it seemed to provide a good position for easy reach for trigger finger, and also does not get I the way.

the B.A.D Lever is a bolt release extension that goes through the trigger guard for trigger hand manipulation - they're awesome. i have them on several lowers :)

Aero Precision recommends Norgon Ambi Mag Release to go with their ambidextrous lower.
