The Tungsten weights can be purchased separately as well as the alternate strength spring pack and can be installed on the standard SCS.

There are folks on this site that have all sorts of different configurations of barrel lengths and some just shoot subs, some suppers, and some both with and without suppressors. Vetman had several questions that maybe one person can't answer, but if enough people weigh in with what they have and how they use it it may help others to take an educated guess and maybe come close.
So, if you have a JP silent capture spring, please weigh in with what your rifle is, ammo, can, and any other bit of info you feel relevant.

I'll be honest, I put together my rifle with a JP SCS just because I was building a "holy grail" rifle and went full-expense on everything. That said, this is my first SBR, but I've shot others. It certainly does take out the typical spring noise, however it's really not a necessity.

Here's a quick two-shot video of me shooting Gemtech 187's. I know videos are hard to tell. What I can tell you, is that shooting subs are more quiet than releasing the magazine and BHO. I'm super impressed.

Ran the JP Silent (stock) on a built PSA lower and both a 9" AAC upper and a DSG 10" upper today. No issues and cycled supers and 208 and 220 subs. Would I put it in all my rifles? No due to cost but I'll definitely run it in my SBR lowers being run with subs and a suppressor.

I bought the standard weight to run with the AAC 16" upper, but it would not lock back consistently with either supers or subs. JP recommended trying the Heavy and that was the trick for me. I just completed testing across multiple types of supers and subs and all are working perfectly with the AAC 16" upper, SDN-6 with the subs using the following loads:

Well thats interesting. i think a couple said they just use the regular spring. You are saying that you have a AAC MPW with a 12.5 barrel and JP advised you to go with the heavy spring? OR did JP just advise to use Heavy Spring in the 16inch?

I am trying to understand what exactly JP told you and why you had to get a heavy spring for the 12.5 since it sounds like some are just using the standard spring in I guess 9inch barrels. :?:

From the top: I have one of these http://www.advanced-armament.com/300-BL ... p_462.html running on a pistol. It ran just fine with the H2 buffer and spring per AAC comments, but was sproingy running suppressed. I don't recall whether I did or did not talk to JP at that point, but I purchased and installed a Heavy Tungsten buffer and it's run non-sproingy and absolutely reliable through a mix of supers and suppressed subs.

Since I wanted more 300blk and the first AAC upper has been awesome, I then purchased this: http://www.advanced-armament.com/300-BL ... p_463.html obviously to run on a rifle. To address the sproing, I tried a 'standard' AR-15 JPCS since it did not appear that there were 'special' requirements for buffer/spring. Much to my disappointment the rifle would not lock back reliably using a wide array of ammunition both supers and suppressed subs. I then chatted with an individual @ JP who has helped me out in the past using their parts on my firearms. He recommended a few things to try including the Heavy Tungsten setup with the 16". I tested that out through every type of super/subs I have (both factory and reloads) and it worked flawlessly.

I have not encountered any issues in reliability with the Heavy Tungsten JPCS in either 12.5 or the 16" AAC upper, but will certainly 'report back' if that changes in the future. FWIW, since I wanted to sample the crowd, My tests for factory subs include the 187 GemTech, Remington (both UMC and gold/green box), SIG 220, Hornady 208 and 220SMK reloads using A1680 suppressed with a SDN-6. My super testing includes the Remington 120 Factory (barnes brass) and reloads with the 135gr SMK/18.0grs H110 and 150gr ball over 15.0grs Lil Gun.

Thanks Chip! That is exactly what I was looking for!! Have not got my MPW 12.5 SDN-6 yet but soon.

...FWIW, go with the spring and buffer the cartridge was designed around, a standard carbine spring & buffer, especially if you are still in the process of building the firearm.

The goal is to ensure you have a 100% functional and reliable firearm from the get go. After you have had time to become accustomed to it and determine what requires changing or desired to change, then you can start purchasing the necessary components to make that change.

Too many posts here and in other forums center around problems related to component compatibility issues. Many of the posts supporting the JP unit primarily tout the low noise signature aspect, not necessarily an increase in reliability or functioning right out of the box.

Also, starting out with one gives no insight if it achieved any performance gain over a standard unit as you have no comparison data to work with, nothing to determine if the extra funding was worthwhile.

I live in a non-NFA locale, so everything I shoot is loud to begin with so I never hear the BCG cycling or spring compressing/uncompressing anyways, take that into perspective of my comments. But, my rigs are 100% reliable

I have 4 Ar's that I can run suppressed, a 16" 5.56, a 20" 6.5 Grendel, a 16" 300blk, and a 8.25" 300blk.

When running subsonic with, or without, suppressor, all of them "sproing" very loudly when shooting.

I bought a JP spring to try and it totally eliminated the "sproing" in all of the them.
They all have the JP spring in them now and they all function percectly, and quietly.

So, my comment is, YES, they are very worth it, if you run suppressed.
I may have been on the losing side, but, I'm not convinced it was the wrong side.

posted before but I will weigh in again. I run the JPSC spring in the stock weight in my 8" SBR suppressed and it has run flawless from day 1 with that combo. The barrel has the proper .093 gas port, using the correct weight BCG and Lancer mags and I get fully reliable cycle and BHO with all rounds. Yes I spent some time tuning my subsonic loads so that they are correct velocity but unless I got REALLY below 800 fps, I still get BHO. I only run suppressed so my system has the right amount of gas pressure. I run 1680 powder for my subs so basically I followed all the proper build and reloading rules and have a sturdy system. Like some of the other poster's said, "would I put this $$ device in all my AR's?" - NOPE! This is a great device to make the ultimate and smooth SBR. A regular AR is too damn loud so the additional "spring" isn't going to matter. My $0.02 and probably only worth that... 8)
