158g 9mm

Post by human »

Is anyone loading 158g 9mm? I'm using 2.5 - 2.8 of titegroup. It's a big bullet so I'm having to mess with seating depths. So far everything is just starting to show pressure signs. I use the lee mold tl358-158-2r size to 356. Anyone else? Trying to find a good quiet subsonic load. Shooting through a suppressor.

How fast are you running them?

I cast with an old Cramer #10 mold that drops a ~158gr RN; 3.6gr Bullseye gives me 990 fps in a G19, unsuppressed. 3.4gr is a little better in my setup though; the freebore boost in my suppressor bumps the 3.6gr load up to 1050-1060 fps.

I haven't chronoed them yet. I don't care about feet per second as much as I do having them cycle and not being overpressured

Cycling will depend a lot on your suppressor's booster. My Mystic on my G19 cycles subsonic 125gr loads easily; the heavier stuff is no problem at all.

It looks like the best combo so far is 2.5g of titegroup, oal 1.5 with blazer brass. Some other brass bulges and gets stuck. Blazer brass is best so far.

You can't reload without a chrono. The numbers can tell you about pressure before you'll see any signs.

You can reload without a chronograph...
