how far do you drive to your range

Post by hardcase »

My nearest rifle range with more than 100 yrs is 26 miles one way. I can get 100 yrs in my back yard but miss the fellowship. Would you drive this far?

Closest range to me is around 90min from me(that has longer than 100yd). The county just opened a range from my house about 20min and they are currently making lanes out to 500. It's a nice range. It's 10.00 to shoot all day and kids 14 and under shoot free!

I open my back door. Sometimes I step out sometimes I don't. I stop shooting inside when the smoke alarms go off. Lol. Here I have a 400 yard shot to the woods and 240 yards to my deer feeder. I practice both shots. Never know where something is gonna walk out. if I go out in the field I can get a 900 yard shot but dont. My nearest public range is 20 miles. It sucks. Private ranges are an hour away. They are pretty nice but I'm not a member. I'm not gonna pay their prices for a couple times a year. The only one I'm a member at is 2 hours away but it is where I buy my NFA stuff and it is indoors and actually cheaper than the others. They let me shoot items that are in "jail". And I find myself driving to that town regularly.

My PREFERRED range is 55 miles from my door. There are closer ranges, but they are more expensive (not only in dollars, but PITA and wasted time)

I have a 250 yard range off my deck for rifle, and if I want to drive the 250 yards to the target, I have a 50 yard deep by 80 yard wide pistol range that I use for IDPA style shooting.

My usual 100yd range is about 30 minutes from my house, but that is because the speed limit is like 40 mph and I like pissing off people behind me.

20 minutes for pistol bays (IDPA, USPSA, and steel matches) and a 25-200 yard rifle range.
No matter what you read on the intarweb CCI450s and CCI41s ARE NOT BALLISTICALLY IDENTICAL with H110! I'm also not a intarweb lawyer so I don't argue with anyone who is.

3 miles from my door is 0-130yrd members range and 0-200yrd public range. They open 600yrd one day a month. Best thing is $100/yr and as of Monday they went to 6pm close so I have been going after work.

No, if I had 100yds at my house I wouldn't drive across the street much less 100 miles.
I belong to a private club and it's less than 15 miles. The public (some) ranges around here can be a real adventure and down right dangerous.
