But yes, coating will stop that.

Figure out a way to make a inexpensive version of the lapua subsonic. It loads at 1 .98 and feeds fine in a gi mag. Accuracy is also great. No expansion though.
Edit: or is the point to get another 30 or 40 grains

Ordinary flat faced bullets have better terminal effects but are not compatible with normal magazines.

I tried to look up Clearwater Custom and got some site in some asian language....BLK happened?hunter2 wrote:"Will not expand anyway". I have some 220 and 240 from Clearwater Custom with a generous exposed tip that expands exceptionally well. Is that because they are made with pure lead and everything else is close to wheel weights with tin and ar?

Just talked to Joe Albright that runs CC out of Idaho. He lost his wife not long ago and let everything lapse, including the web site. I know he could use our prayers. Said he was thinking about starting back up and would make me some 220's. Will let you know how it comes out. Diamondback Custom Bullet Fabricators also made me some that would also work in an ar and expand. A couple of years back I mailed out packets containing 2 each of Lehigh, Clearwater, and Diamondback to the first 50 people that wanted one. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THEM. Just wanted to get some options out there.Rushthezeppelin wrote:I tried to look up Clearwater Custom and got some site in some asian language....BLK happened?hunter2 wrote:"Will not expand anyway". ??? No, we haven't seen that. A good hollow point in a cast bullet, as long as it's not cast too hard ( like most commercial casting alloys) expands nicely at subsonic speeds. They just aren't common for the 300 because the profiles that expand, but still feed correctly in an AR, are pretty specific, and most don't understand the issue well enough to design something completely reliable.300Blk wrote:I am confused. Have we not seen for years that no one, aside from exotic machined copper, can make a subsonic expanding bullet?

Robert's patent application finally hit the USPTO web site:

Nice job Robert!!!
Has this bullet design been tested for accuracy and stability?
What weight are these two designs?
What twist rate is required?
When will the moulds be available?
Its funny how we get into casting to save money on projectiles and end up going through those savings on different moulds...
I am so pleased to see how the 300 BLK has inspired so many to innovate.

Disclaimer: Reloading and casting I only look at cents/round and ignore any other costs
So I guess I have to agree!!!
And I too would like to know if any testing was done on this bullet and if it was good or bad. And of course if it was good then where I can buy the mold!!! Maybe get Lee to do a group buy on a six cavity block!!!!
