Surefire 762SS and 300blk

Post by M1AJUNKIE »

I have a surefire 762ss on order for my .308 precision rifle, and was thinking that may make a nice 300blk suppressor.

Any one using the 762SS with the 300blk? I know it will be a large suppressor, but if it sounds good and allows subsonic ammo to cycle I am happpy.

Looking for any input before I start planning a 300blk upper.

Well, you guys are in luck....sort of. I just got my 300 together today. I already had a surefire 762ss laying around so I decided to use it. My only problem is I don't have any ammo! Really frustrating. I was well prepared for all this with my other guns that I load for, but I did not realize the powder was going to be a problem. Bullets are almost as bad. I managed to get some powder and I am in the process of making my brass. I have some bullets but they are not ideal for the blackout-some 147's, 155 scenars and 175 smk's. Anyway, I am working on getting all that together and should be ready to go in a week or two. Let you know how it runs after that.

Any update on how the Surefire 762SS functions with your 300 Blackout?

I bought the 762SS just for my 300blkout build. It's cycling my AR very well. I hand-load most of my rounds and have had issues with cycling but that was due to my inexperience to reloading. I have never had a problem with factory loads. The only down side is how big the thing is. So that forced me to put in for a SBR stamp LOL! I think it sounds good but i do not have anything to compare it to. I hope this helps let me know if I can answer any more question for you.

Sorry to get back to you so late. The surefire works fine. I found that for my aac 16"rifle with a carbine buffer, that 1680 and 5477 work for subs. My subs are 220 smk, with converted lc brass and cci 400 primers. Either powder will cycle subs and accuracy is good. The surefire is definitely louder than my friends who use tbac 30 P1 suppressors on very similar rifles. I also tried speer tnt 125 supers and had trouble cycling those with n110 or h110. Hope that helj

Here's the Surefire 762SS on a 16" AAC MPW 300 Blackout.

How does it sound with supersonics?
What twist is your barrel/how is stability?

It is still loud. You would want to wear ear pro still, but it does make a huge difference from unsuppressed.

The barrel is a 1:7 twist. These were reloads using 220 grain SMK's with A1680 powder. Stability was checked prior to attaching suppressor at 10 and 20 yards only to see if there was any key holing on the paper. Holes were perfectly round, so no stability problems at that range.
