125 grain serria match king 300 blackout

Post by WilliamSS2025 »

I picked up these bullets the other day and I can't find any load data and I was wondering if anyone can give me some? Looking for the most accurate out of a 16" barrel.. I'm also running carbine gas... Thanks in advance

This is what I found works for my gun. There are a couple more loads floating around.

I'm finding pretty good luck using 125's with 16.5 grains of IMR4227.

Got any chrony results with that? If so, barrel length?

I loaded up some with H110 at a COL of 2.125 (kinda short, but shot and cycled fine).

Chrony: Shooting Chrony Beta Master; 10' from muzzle.

Gun: 16" CMMG WASP; carbine gas; Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP

All brass was mixed head stamp, but mostly LC.

Shooting was done at 100 yards using a bipod and no rear bag.

17.0 gr; Wolf primer; very light crimp
Velocities for four shots: 2069, 2035, 2131, 2168. [One shot registered an error]
Average: 2101
ESP: 133
StDev: 59.9
Group size: 1.18"

17.2 gr; Rem 7 1/2; very light crimp
Velocities: 2050, 2118, 2127, 2134, 2140.
Avergae: 2114
ESP: 90.31
StDev: 36.59
Group size: 1.22"

17.5 gr; Wolf; very light crimp
Velocities: 2114, 2191,2139,2119, 2137.
Average: 2137
ESP: 77
StDev: 31.85
Group size: .96"

I saw no pressure signs at 17.5, so you could probably go a little higher, but I won't. I believe that the Hodgdon manual lists 17.8 grains as the max, but I may be wrong.

I've loaded 20 with 17.5 gr H110 and a COL of 2.25" [SAAMI spec max is 2.26"] to see how accuracy is affected. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to shoot them tomorrow (Saturday).

I am seating the 125's at 2.19 OAL.

I'm using a 16" Model 1 upper on a DPMS lower, USGI mags, reformed brass of various brands, Lee dies, Lee FCD, and an RCBS single-stage press and an old red dot I had laying around...nothing extra fancy. No suppressor (yet) and no lasers, flashlights or other such bolt-ons. I'm not planning on doing any building clearing, long range sniping or prepping for a zombie apocalypse. Just having fun. All shooting done at 50 yards from sandbag rest.

I haven't chronographed anything yet, looking for most accurate load with several different bullet weights and then will worry about how fast they get there. I figure speed is irrelevant if the bullet doesn't go where intended.

Here are my 125gr SPH (Spitzer) Lil'Gun strings at 25 yds. I was not even trying for accuracy, more like get set, shoot, check chrony reading, repeat. These same rounds have no issues in my carbine gas system 16" barrel AR, I just didn't chrony them in the AR. I hope this info helps you out :)

16.5" 1:8 twist, BFG Cartidges barrel on my bolt gun but should have no cycling issues in an AR as the load I go with will be used in both my bolt and AR guns.

if i load @2.210 ( read that was AAC recommendation) do you think 17.8 would still be the max? i'm new to loading... and when you say light crimp what do you mean.. i got the lee factory crimp die but i'm not really sure how how much that thing really does...

I'm not a reloading expert, but I don't think that changing the COL from 2.125 to 2.210 or 2.250 makes much difference in the maximum load. I've had some really bad experiences I use RCBS dies, so the bullet seating and crimping are done in one step. I set the die by backing out the bullet seating rod and putting a cartridge in the press. I run the ram all the way up then turn the die down until I feel it hit the cartridge. I Back out the ram and then give the die 1/2 more turn. With one full turn past just touching, I can see a light roll crimp and that's what I'm trying to avoid.

I didn't get a chance to try my 2.250 loads today. Just as I was getting stuff together a thunderstorm rolled in. Maybe tomorrow.
