Of course factory 300 BO or Whisper is best, but if you find range brass,
which I do all the time, what is good?
I compiled this list from online info and personal experience
Feel free to chime in with your experience
Good
Lake City Arsenal (LC), Federal FC, Winchester, WCC, Remington (R-P), PMC
Most US commercial brass
Bad
(thick walled, need neck turning at best)
Most of the cheap imported 223 or 556, headstamped:
ATI , PMP, CJ, NPA, PPU, MKE, S&B, FNB, FNM, S&B, IMG, RORG, RWS, TAA, CJ, Amerc, PRVI, HRTRS, KFA, etc
Ugly
Anything tarnished, heavily dented, steel cased, berdan primed, laquer coated, etc.

You must really not like PPU because you mentioned it twice.
I like PMC brass better than LC brass for my 223's and 5.56's...but as far as 300blk goes, I have only converted mostly LC brass so far.

This should be added to the how to resource guide at the top.
nothing is more powerful than a young boy's wish. Except an Apache. Apaches have machine guns & missiles. It is an unbelievably impressive complement of weaponry an absolute death machine

For range pickups I only use LC and WCC, making sure they are once fired. LC for supers and WCC for subs, just so I can keep some kind of system.

Thanks much AR-300!! Been looking for that list as I've been collecting a good bit of scavenged brass here lately. d:^) Schneeks..

PSD any good?

PSD is Korean with a military primer crimp, I just got done loading 600 rounds with it, it's fine, as good as LC, or any of the other military brass...
Re: Brass- The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
I'm pretty sure PSD is just a military version of PMC. It's great brass for reloading 223, I haven't tried to convert it to 300BLK yet.neovader wrote:PSD any good?
You do get a flash hole off center here and there, but not too bad and I still use those too and can't tell the difference in my plinking loads.

You may want to add HRTRS to the "Bad" list:

Re: Brass- The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
Went to AL Gun Collectors Show in B'ham today. I was shocked at how much .223 brass was there. The cheapest I saw was LC cleaned and deprimed for $22 per 100. No 300BLK ready ammo at all. 223 ready ammo running $70 per 100. Most shocking was the quantity of ar 15's on the tables and walking around in the crowds. Saw many PS90's too. I'm tempted by one of those but I think I'll stick with 300BLK.
