My only thought was that if you have a separate sticky for those, people could post good deals on components as well as where to find them. Just in case others (not always newbies) can find them.

bamachem: Thank-you for taking this task on.
Now if we just get folks to tell us a bit about the specifics of their weapon when they post data/results.....

I don't think loads should be accepted without barrel length and gas port position.

All questions except for the link to the load development will be required. I'll give them one chance to edit upon request. I'll have to delete incomplete posts.Retooferab wrote:I don't think loads should be accepted without barrel length and gas port position.

This will be great! A thread with loads only and no BSing just load after load!

Excellent! Only idea I have would be to make it easily searchable by including a text string like "110H110", or something like this, in each post. Then if someone wanted to find all the loads for a 110 gr bullet using H110 powder they could. If you are approving each post and have edit authority it would be easy to do and keep consistent. If one person was doing it I could see adding bullet manufacturer and barrel length to it without everything getting messed up.
No matter what you read on the intarweb CCI450s and CCI41s ARE NOT BALLISTICALLY IDENTICAL with H110! I'm also not a intarweb lawyer so I don't argue with anyone who is.

Good point. I'll think about how to implement that.

Forgot to say thanks for taking this on. THANKS!
As to implementation I think big items first like bullet weight then powder would work best. Then add any refinements to end in order of whatever you deem important. It looks like "*" can be used as wildcards so if each item in the string had a set length you could do searches like "110****16" to find all 110 grain bullet loads out of a 16" barrel. A set prefix on the string like "300BOHL" (300 BlackOut Hand Load) would do an excellent job of filtering junk out of the search results.
300BOHLwwwppppll where www is the bullet weight, pppp (if 4 characters is enough) is the powder, and ll is the barrel length would probably work pretty good. Would need a sticky explaining all this at the top of the forum and it could also include some clickable example search links.
Maybe using the burn rate number from the Hodgdon burn rate chart might be easier than coming up with abbreviations for all the powders.
