Convertible Suppressors ?
Are there any suppressors on the market that have replaceable internal sleeves that allow conversion between calibers ? I like to find a rifle suppressor that can be used for 5.56 and 300 Blackout. A pistol model that could convert from 9mm, .40, and/or .45 would certainly be highly desirable as well.
Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
In the good old US of A... No.
Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
Not convertible sleeves but many manufacturers make multi caliber suppressors. I have a YHM 7.62 QD that will mount on anything centerfire up to .308 diameter. I used it for 223, 7.62x39, 300 Blk, 7mm-08, and 308. All of these rifles are threaded and have a YHM QD muzzle brake.
Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
There are several .308 cans that have multiple mounts.
If you want a pistol can that can do multi calibers there are also numerous .45 cans that have different pistons that can shoot lots of different rounds.
I have a 762SDN6 in ATF jail right now(there are mounts for 5.56 and .308 based guns) and a TiRant 45(has pistons for 9mm, 40, and 45). This will cover basically everything I want to do, but I am also probably going to snag a .22lr specific can as well.

Agreed. The gas escaping around a smaller bullet and a larger baffle hole is offset by the larger volume of the can. The loss in effectiveness is marginal.

Since I'll mostly be shooting supersonic I'm more concerned right now with reducing muzzle blast. I guess I should I just buy a .308 can, use it for 5.56, and expect the can won't be as effective on 5.56. I don't see the need of investing in multiple cans and tax stamps.HotLead wrote:Agreed. Who makes the 762SDN6 and TiRant 45 and what is the ballpark cost for each ?
Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
Don't forget the Liberty Mystic? It is a 9mm Ti can that is rated for subs and supers in 300 blackout on 8" barrels as well as full power 5.56 on a 16" barrel and numerous other calibers.
Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
AAC makes both and ballpark would be $900-950(although I have seen a few go for the 850 range, I wouldnt expect it) and 725-775 respectively.tlen wrote:Since I'll mostly be shooting supersonic I'm more concerned right now with reducing muzzle blast. The 762SDN6 running 5.56 through it was only I think 4db louder than an M4-2000(5.56 can) was. The pitch of the sound was lower with the 762SDN6 than it was the 5.56...
Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
on a yhm 7.62 there is a small db diffrance in running this on a 5.56 vs a 5.56 can. most cant tell a diffrance.I guess I should I just buy a .308 can, use it for 5.56, and expect the can won't be as effective on 5.56.

Re: Convertible Suppressors ?
I use my AAC cyclone on my blkout, grendel, and 5.56 pistol. Works great! Thinking about threading my 25-06 sendero to use it also.
