168 gr match king

Post by sherpa »

Has anyone had any luck or have a favorite recipe for the BLK using the 168 gr. M/K? It's for a bolt gun but AR load data is fine with me. Thanks.

I've tried 167gr. Lapua Scenars and 168gr. A-MAX's under 14.5gr. H110 @ 2.25" OAL in my 300 Blackout M700 with 1:8" twist 16" Shilen Match SS barrel. Very acceptable (5) round groups @ 100yds. I don't see how the Sierra bullet wouldn't fair out equally well.

Here's a few typical groupings:

I should have said in the original post that it is a 22" 1-10 Wilson Arms barrel and I'm looking for supersonic loads. The previous poster's results are impressive.

I think your barrel will be just fine for the 168's. In fact, you'll have a higher muzzle velocity so that's not a bad thing for supersonic loads. Here's a few more groups I shot today. I had to settle using smaller targets today that made shooting a challenge. Next time out, I'm putting a higher magnification scope on the rifle to see if I can't shrink the groups a little by reducing the chance of the elusive "flyer".

2Bad,

Were you using a chronograph? If so I'm curious what you were seeing. I have some Lapua 185 FMJ Subsonic bullets I wanted to try.
Thanks
