Hi there!
I'm wondering, for those who have tried both powders, if you had to choose between using lil-gun or h110 which would you choose and why?
Are there any considerations vis a vis barrel wear between the two?
I have lots and lots of 150gr solid copper .308 bullets I plan on using, and I'm wanting to stay supersonic.
Gun has an 18.6 inch long barrel.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Cheers,
Brobee

Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
If your gun isn't a semi-auto then Lil' Gun should work fine. Just don't stray too far from the burn rate of H110 since that is the ideal burn rate for supersonics.
If it is semi-auto then it may not cycle without opening the gas port to a size that would make the cyclic rate too high with factory ammo.
Unless you are just looking to get rid of those copper bullets you would probably be better served with 300 BLK specific bullets. All the copper and gilding metal 150 grain bullets will be designed to expand at 308 Win and 30-06 velocities which the 300 BLK can't come close to except for at the muzzle and won't be good for hunting.
If you are just looking to get rid of them it would probably be cheaper to sell those bullets, since copper demands a premium, and buy Accutips or the Barnes 300 BLK specific bullet.
300 BLK is a new concept where 110 and 125 grain bullets rule the roost for supersonic shooting. I think a general consensus could be reached that 300 BLK is good for deer, hogs, and possibly small black bear. If you are shooting elk or moose you need to step up to something else.
Ok, sorry for rambling. Good luck!

Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
seems like theres allot of guys on here using lil gun in there ars. Going out today to try a 125 otm with 4 charges each of lil gun and h110 so ill post up some results when i get back.
Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
The 150grain bullets are solid copper (ie no expansion at all) and would be used for plinking only. My plan for hunting is to use the new Barnes bullet.agBQ08 wrote:

I have probably 10,000 of them left over from my last run...I have not been shooting my m1a so it would be good to find a use for them.

Really excited to hear what you learn!

Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
I have found I get a higher FPS with A1680 than W296/H110 shooting 150 gr bullets.
I have LillGun and W296 but have only tried 296. I do plan on testing the LillGun as some report a slightly higher FPS before pressure signs.
My suggestion is if you are looking for the highest FPS than the A1680 may be a better choice. I easily get 2000 fps but it was hard to break the 2K mark w/o pressure with 296. 1900 FPS seems to be a comfortable pressure for 296. Starts to get warm after that.
Loads for 150's:

LOL <insert jerking chain gif>
Nice shooting .. Those 125 OTM are nice bullets. Any idea what FPS you are getting with the 19.5 gr load?

Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
Not yet. I was sorting some gas block issues when I shot those and did not have my chrony. I had never been able to get five even near that , so when I shot five that good, I decided my issue was resolved.
If weather holds, gonna chrono those and some others tomorrow.

What's your OAL and primer for these loads? Did you use a semi?
Thanks
