Good prices, I'll save up and get ahold of you. The TTSX would be the blue tipped right? The black tips aren't out yet. Do the blue tips expand at BLK velocities out of a 9"? Since the black tips are barrier blind, the blue tips actually seem like a better choice for HD. Much like the Critical Defense and Critical Duty from Hornady. Both are great but it was recommended in an article on the new barrier blind Critical Duty that they were intended for LE duty ammunition and for the purpose of getting through things better than standard ammo. The Critical defense sounds like it would open up faster and not penetrate as much therefore a better choice of the two for HD.

Am I right on these bullets? Both are great, just the blue is better for HD if there had to be a choice between the two.

The Barnes TTSX is the blue tip (Tipped) TSX bullet. It is designed to help increase BC and open up at a lower velocity. If penetration is the goal, the Tipped TSX would be the best option for a full power load. The 110 grain V-max is a great bullet, but will lack in penetration to the Barnes. The V-max would make a decent deer round and a really good home defense (HD) round. For HD, I'd go with the 110 V-max load for maximum energy transfer. The 110 Tipped TSX would be a great pig round.

On our testing and feedback, the 208 is having the best overall results with the subsonic ammo. It has provided full penetration on most pigs shot. Shooting a 300 BLK OUT suppressed with the 208's is about as much fun as you can have!

So you've had no issues with 110 vmax's? I know hornady loads 300 whisper 110 vmax and I would assume they would have all the kinks worked out. I ask because I thought I read recently that Robert S said the ogive on the 110 vmax wasn't ideal for max reliability.

Your 300 BLK is reformed .223 right? Would there be a lower price if I supplied my UMC brass for you to load? I've only got 600 rounds so far and have only fired about 60 rounds.

I do not doubt your reformed brass but it would be nice to have 300 BLK headstamped brass. Just cause.

I've put hundreds of rounds downrange out to 500 yards with the 110 grain V-max. I've had no issues at all. 300 BLK headstamped brass is nice, but it is very expensive. My cost on the brass alone would be 3 times more for AAC and Rem brass, and almost 4 times for Hornady brass, and they are often out of stock. The supply of LC 5.56 brass is plentiful, and once it's sized and trimmed, it's just as good. Once I had my load established that I liked, I dialed out to 500 yards and banged away on a small 1/2 man size target. It will shoot very well.

If you supplied your brass, the primer pocket could not have any crimp. Otherwise, that would be fine. It would save you about $0.10 a round, so not much.

Will you be offering the black vortex bullet offering when it becomes available?

I'd love to see some tests of the A-max load. I know that at 2500 fps the A-max tends to fragment pretty explosively. I wonder if it would hold together, yet do more terminal damage that the 220gr SMK?

Out of a 300 BLK 2500 would be on the hot side. I'm not going to say you should or shouldn't, that's for others to say. The factory loads aren't that hot. The 220 smk is only going to be going pistol velocities and there for while I wouldn't want to get hit by it, its like an FMJ pistol round. The vmax is definitely going to do much more damage. Look up some you tube videos. I've seen several that show subs and supers in the same video. One shows a melon getting hit by a sub, which passes right through, like an fmj pistol bullet. Then a supersonic vmax blows the melon into fruit juice. Very cool.
