Email RCBS and ask for 300 Blk dies

Post by cb4017 »

I'm not really satisfied with the current die offerings in 300 Blk. I have a set of Lee dies. They're ok but the internal polish could be better.
I've used RCBS dies for close to 40 years and have always been pleased with them. I emailed RCBS and asked about future availability of 300 Blk dies. They have no current plans to make 300 Blk dies but do consider customer requests. Maybe if enugh of us ask for them RCBS will make them.

Here is their email address: [email protected]

They can also be contacted from the website: http://www.rcbs.com/general/ask.aspx

RCBS offers a 300-221 die set on their special order line that should actually work.

You don't like the Redding dies?

I've never owned Redding dies and I'm sure they're high quality. I just can't see paying twice what RCBS dies normally run.

They do cost more than the competitions dies with the same features. I have a friend that thinks I'm nuts for running Redding. He would rather spent the extra money on more powder, bullets, etc. I tell hiim he needs to when I out shoot him! HA HA! Anyway, I haven't had any problems with stuck cases, drags and feel they are well worth the money. I run their type s bushing die and micro seater on my .223 loads and have had excellent luck. I'm going to put a micro seater plug on my BLK's seater die. I've got so used to being able to adjust seating depth with a micro I kind of miss it on my new BLK die.

Happy loading and shooting!

Here is the RCBS Tech reply. Bummer.

The 300ACC Blackout is a proprietary cartridge and we are not permitted to produce it. Thanks for choosing RCBS and have a great day!

I think they may be confusing 300 Whisper with 300 Blackout. That would be kind of like saying that 223 Remington is a proprietary cartridge...

ETA: I've forwarded this information on to a couple of engineers I know at RCBS. Hopefully, they can help correct it.

My Forester BLK sizing die is very nice... FAR better than the LEE die I have.
Long distance, the next best thing to being there!

Hmm, just looked at Midway. They're listing Hornady 300 Black Out dies, "coming soon".
