Not just for the 240s - but for an extra margin of stability for 220s also. Yes, we are going 1/7. As is Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington, and a few other companies.
The Handi Rifle is 1/7. $359 MSRP. Out in March.
Is 1/8 twist on the way out?

That's good to know.300Blk wrote:Not just for the 240s - but for an extra margin of stability for 220s also. Yes, we are going 1/7. As is Bushmaster, DPMS, Remington, and a few other companies.

Just my luck.. after JUST getting 2 rifles in 1 in 8 twists. shaking head gif
Robert, are the M700 BLK scout rifles available now? Do they have the feeding/extraction problems worked out?
Long distance, the next best thing to being there!
Re: Is 1/8 twist on the way out?
The 1:8 is fine by me. I'd actually like to be loading lighter subs. The 208 AMax's worked wonderfully at the range yesterday. Lookin forward to trying lighter.
I doubt that it's applicable here, but an old 22-250AI I had in 1:7 for those "Javelin" shaped 90 grain JLK's would destroy anything 60gr and under I tried to run thru it. They'd just disintegrate into a dust cloud a few feet from the muzzle. Not sure if the BLK would generate enough velocity with the 110's for this to be an issue. But I kindof doubt it. YMMV. d:^) Schneeks..

Re: Is 1/8 twist on the way out?
I am interested in this 8 to 7 twist change. I wonder how much affect it will actually have on the 220s and others stability ? I see Bison Arms is introducing a 6.8 sub sonic in 1/7 rifling ... Say it will work fine with supersonic as well. Lots going on and I am sure more to come with SHOT revving up!300Blk wrote:Not just for the 240s - but for an extra margin of stability for 220s also. Anyone who wants to get rid of their old, obsolete, unwanted 1/8 twist barrel, upper or complete rifle, send it to me.

Re: Is 1/8 twist on the way out?
so... is this going to be another 1:7 1:8 1:9 5.56 like debate?... been waiting this long to get a reasonably priced barrel, the wait just got longer waiting for a 1:7?... I'd like to know what "extra margin of stability" means, seems like most manufactured sub sonic ammo is 220gr...
Re: Is 1/8 twist on the way out?
If I understand the difference between the AAC Micro7 and Rem M700 BLK SPS Tactical.. The SPS barrel is a Remington MFG barrel in "BLK" and the AAC M7 has a custom barrel and is an AAC rifle It also comes with a nice scope rail.. the SPS does not.. I wonder if the M700 has the oversized tapped scope rail holes.300Blk wrote:I am not aware of any scout rifles.JohnInNH wrote:Robert, are the M700 BLK scout rifles available now? Pros and cons (well maybe not cons.. just different )
-----------M7 ----------- M700
Stock ---- --------------- Pro
barrel- ----Pro
twist -------------------- Pro
action ---- Pro ---------- Pro (M7 is light, M700 is the "std" feeding/extraction reliability TBD
Scope rail--Pro
Size/weight Some may prefer the full size of the M700 SPS stock and action.
Robert excuse me I should have said the SPS Tactical (a scout rifle to me):
