I was just wondering if this topic has been discussed anywhere already or if anybody has done it already. I for one am a huge fan of the Mini-14 as a general hunting rifle but do not like the idea of using .223 for white tail deer hunting. Re-barreling one for 300 BLK would be perfect I would think.
Any ideas?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ruger introduces such a thing at the SHOT Show.

Never wanted a Mini, but this might be interesting.
Re: Ruger Mini-14 chambered in 300 BLK
Although this would be very interesting the Mini 30 (7.62x39) kinda negates the need for a Mini 14 in 300. Same ergonomics (maybe greater mag capacity with the 300 though) and very similar ballistics. Cheaper ammo with the 7.62x39 if you go the Wolf route although the 300 ammo is much better quality.
That said I would love to see Ruger make one all the same to help the round out and provide options. I guess the word "need" really shouldn't be used when it comes to firearms and cartridges; "want" is so much better!

Never seen a mini thirty run well in a hard use, hi volume course. A 300 blackout would be cool?

If they do it'll take them until November of next year to work out the recall issues

These guys could do it, and with a heavy barrel. The don't currently list it, but they could do it.

They did a .223 for me in '94 and a 6/223 for me in '96. Very accurate rifles. Unbelievably so, when you consider they are Mini-14s!
.223 with a 24" barrel.
6x45mm with a 24" barrel.
Both barrels .82" diameter.

Actually I was really looking into having these guys build me a mini 14 in 300blk

They make an adjustable gas block system which I am really interested in, it would be a suppressed rifle. I really want an adjustable system and haven't been sold on the AR platform just yet.
But have to finish my other projects first....

Re: Ruger Mini-14 chambered in 300 BLK
I contacted them about doing a 300 black out and he said they could and would do the swap but I think its going to cost around 700.00 for the work and I am just not sure I want to sink that much in my mini since I only have 600.00 in the rifle .
I can see the 300 blackout being a great cartridge in the mini plus it would resolve the issues with shooting cheap 7.62 x 39 ammo and firing pins breaking. or not having enough contact to ignite the primer.
