Hello all - first post.
I bought a stag arms 8" ar pistol in blk recently. It seems the barrel threading is 1/2x28. It had an a2 and I replaced it with a 1/2x28 jp flash hider.
Now I read that this threading is rare on a blackout and that 1/2x28 is generally for 5.56 and that these devices might be dangerous with blackout pressure - especially supersonic.
Is this true or do I just not understand?
I have a kx3 on order - also in 5.56 1/2x28...

Re: Newbie barrel threading question
As long as your muzzle device has a hole larger than .308 for the bullet to pass through, you are fine.
Re: Newbie barrel threading question
Thanks for the reply .
Is it as easy as getting a 1/2 to 5/8 adapter and buying a new appropriately sized muzzle device? Any downsides?
Why did stag use this threading anyway?

Re: Newbie barrel threading question
Thread pattern isn't important, bore size is. You need a .308 muzzle device threaded to match your barrels thread pattern. I would not use an adapter.
Re: Newbie barrel threading question
What is the issue with adapters?
Re: Newbie barrel threading question
Mostly alignment...weight...changes to barrel harmonics...another set of threads to come loose...where would you like me to stop?
