I had thought there was a thread or so on these bullets.
I have had them in my shelf almost two years and haven’t tried any till today.
I loaded three powders, VN120, 300MP & 1680. I loaded ten of each powder. Five to a 2.100 and five to a 2.200 OAL.
Too wet and windy for chrono so just accuracy loads.
All the 2.100 outshot the 2.200 across the board. 300MP was top followed by VV and 1680 last but none was a slouch! All shot five under 1” @ 100. 300/2.100 went into a 1/3” single hole!!! 1680/2.100 looked like a map of Italy. One ragged hole.
I also threw ten cast loads in my range bag. 15g 3031 and a deep seated 165 HP. OMG the best cast load to date frites from one of my 300’s. 5 shots twice into a lil over 1/2” @ 50 yards.
Very very happy

Sounds like it was a good day!! Always nice when test runs work out.
One ragged hole! The quest for accuracy continues...

There were a few threads, but I can't find one with much info.
Sounds like you had a good day. Please add to this thread when you shoot some more. I also have a box that I haven't opened yet.

I have yet to have a. As experience on game with a FTX. Every one in various calibers has expanded quickly and easily. I’m predicting that it Should be a good choice on game.
Interested to see my velocities when weather permits.

Re: Hornady 135 FTX
Been to the range twice now since initial trip. BOTH times either forgot ammo or batt dead in chrono.
BUT accuracy is on point nothing even approaching 1” has been shot.

Re: Hornady 135 FTX
Bit the range over last weekend and Im clocking almost 2200 with these 135's and 300MP.
They are warm for my AR's but fine in the RARR.
Accuracy remains just over 1/2 MOA. MY Ar's arent as accurate but damn near MOA so over all im happy. They wont see. A diet of these. I have a excellent load with a Speer 150 GD for them.
But very pleased with that vel for a 135g. My buddy is pissed as he dont hit 22 with a 125 before he gets case head swipes and craterd primers.
Im a hunter first. So a 135 gets ya just a lil better vel and about same energy over/as a 150 but nearly as flat as a 125 with more energy. A 150GD seems a fine bullet. But so do this FTX. Both purpose built. Next Ill try is a 110 GTX HORNADY. Its also a purpose built bullet. But cant find any right now.

Re: Hornady 135 FTX
Good to hear you're finally doing something with those bullets CW.
Also good to know they can hold MOA. Thanks for sharing.
There are a lot of "pressure signs" in hot loads that are more due to being over gassed than pressure. Add in a poor bolt face design and swipes start long before they should. A cratered primer won't change, but a swipe because the bolt twists on the case head because it can't be extracted is another story.
If you can give the case time to release from the chamber walls by slowing down the carrier and fully support the case head with something like the LMT enhanced version, probably 80% of so called "pressure signs" disappear.
As an example I shoot 110 grain bullets at 2300+ fps in an 8" barrel and the bullets come apart before the case heads show pressure signs due to the 1/5 twist and 340,000 rpms.
You can chase velocity a lot harder, if the gas system is tuned well. Something your friend might consider.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Re: Hornady 135 FTX
I get a good chuckle when I read bolt shooters claim no pressure cause there was ZERO EXTRACTOR SWEEP...
Absolutely presser shows a few ways and in some guns appearances of pressure can be other things entirely.
