Thank you dellet !
I will try both of those recommendations in the next couple of weeks and report back !
Regarding the seating depth ; ive tried multiple combinations to lower ES
For example :
1.530" *** = ES 90
1.540" *** = ES 80
1.575" *** = ES 238
1.580" *** = ES 49
1.590" *** = ES 57
1.600" *** = ES 45
1.620" *** = ES 60
1.645" *** = ES 186
*** with the Hornady Bullet Comparator (#8-30)
I have not crimped nor played with the bushing height/depth
Id be interested to see what the bushing height/depth would yield ! [never thought about that, thank you dellet again for your reply]

Re: In search for a sub minute 200 yard subsonic bullet
Time for me to lob some 180 Wedges out to the 200 yard mark just cuz. I can't find the card I shot last winter so I'll just give it another go. I could swap out optics to a 20X but then where is the fun of lobing those pills out there. Still have some Lapua 200 RBT left over that are Hbn coated too

Current subsonic project is 395 grains.
Have a couple things to work out before 200 yards, but it's getting close.

Re: In search for a sub minute 200 yard subsonic bullet
Just getting things sorted out I'm using 12.5 of Trail Boss and that is about 105%. I really don't know if the bullet will be stable, first shots were actually yesterday and looked good at 50 yards. Once I can confirm stability I will probably start with Black powder. I might try a silhouette shoot or two this summer.bangbangping wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 2:16 pmThat's awesome. What powder are you using and what's the fill ratio?
I may try and stay under 1000 fps and completely out of the trans-sonic range, but the drop difference between 1,000 and 1250 fps. from 200 to 500 yards is about 9 feet.
Still hits with over 600 pounds of energy at 500 yards with the lower velocity. Cartridge is 38-55, that bullet is 1.495".

Next question: how does one get that .377 bullet squoze down to .310 or so?

Re: In search for a sub minute 200 yard subsonic bullet
Just a small drift. Everyone works up loads different, and I really done have a repeatable process, just some basic guidelines.
New to me rifle, new cartridge, first three times out with 3 different loads at 50 yards.
I had 5 shots before this to get the scope adjusted roughly. There was a 1" dot when I started. Point of aim was 12" low, 1" right. If the BC for the bullet is correct then this should be on at 200 yards. Shots 1&2 then adjust scope on to missing dot. This was shooting into about a 20-25 mph wind from 2 o'clock.
Back the next day with a Chronograph and a load 1/2 grain less. Battery issue with the chrongraph. Same point of aim.
Day 3, five more shots same point of aim, and original load. Battery issue solved, and I even remembered to return the scioe to battery each time. Average velocity 904 FPS with an ES of 7.
So that's 15 shots in three sessions, over three days in three different sets of conditions. I am lucky enough to be able to shoot at home so the target stays up. This time of year the table is taken down and set up each time. At this point I will load up about 20 rounds and go to the local club and stretch this to 200.
I mentioned "returning the scope to battery". I am not shooting this rifle, but one similar, I am using this scope. Unertl target scope. The scope rides freely in the mounts, the spring keeps recoil from beating it to pieces and in general will return it to firing position. It's critical if you want one hole groups to reach up and check it between each shots. Unless you spend some time using one it's easy to forget.
