noveske upper and noveske push pins

Post by brobin10 »

bought some noveske made take down pins and the front pin fits fine in my noveske gen2 lower but is too wide for the front hole on the upper

really surprised that two noveske products wont fit together

my upper is an 8.2" NSR 300 BLK

anyone else experience this??

I ran into an issue recently where I bought a fully built Noveske 5.56 upper. When trying to mount it to my other two different brand lowers, it would not fit. I determined that the takedown pin holes on the upper were not aligned correctly when machined, so I returned it to midwayusa. The replacement I received now fits fine with al my lowers. Their QC might be slipping a tad to meet the demand.

You may have them reversed accidentally.

well the upper and lower i am using are both from noveske

what would be reversed?

using the front pin for the back and vice versa?

im a very confident i am using the correct pin for the correct location

the pin in question fits fine in my DD built upper and lower

0.248" for the diameter of the noveske front take down pin
0.245" for diameter of front take down pin hole on noveske upper

I only use Noveske rifles and when I built my last gen 2 lower I had the same problem in that the pins were accidentally reversed and I could not push them through the lower. I have had uppers not fit lowers before such as a rock river arms 6.8 SPC upper which would not fit a lower receiver that I bought this year.

what did you do about the pins being reversed? noveske wont respond to my email

also with my problem its the upper take down pin hole that is too small....the gen2 lower will accept both take down pins just fine

I assembled the gen 2 lower with a DD parts kit and Noveske uses standard LPKs so when I put the rear pin in the lower it was too big and thus I realized it goes in front! Sure enough the other one was for the rear and the one I installed was in the wrong spot. I disassembled the the take down pin assembly and swapped them....check youtube for AR lower assembly videos-really straightforward. With minimal tools. If your gun came that way, w/ the upper holes too small, best thing is keep calling them and explain it. They'll take care of you.

i finally got a hold of noveske....they are making a smaller pin for me and shipping it free of charge

if the new pin still doesn't fit they said they would have to "slightly" enlarge the front hole on my upper

very good response and i am definitely pleased with Noveske
