Difficulty releasing ratchet mount on 762-SDN-6

Post by BlogSarge »

How hard should it be to releae the ratchet mount? When I press the release and try to turn the unit it is very hard to turn. I tried to turn it a bit tighter to release pressure on the ratchet but that didn't work. If I tighten it and stop one click from max tightness it removes easily, but I figure it wants to be as solid as possible. Is there a trick I'm missing?

I have this with both my AAC Blackout flash hider and my Brakeout 2.

You don't want to tighten it all the way. There should be a little movement. I guess you could say a bit of play in it. When you press the release it should come off pretty easy. If you hand tighten it as tight as you can get it, I don't think it engages that last tooth correctly and will eventually work its way to a happy wobble mode resulting in a poi shift. It shoots fine with a small amount of play in it.

Thanks. I'll stop at the almost-last notch. I'll also give it a good cleaning. It's brand new so maybe there is a bit of brand-new tightness also.

As a side note. Mine seems to have less play now then when it was new. I don't know why. Carbon buildup ? Thermal expansion ? The phase of the moon?
