300 BO subsonic through a .45 can?

Post by 07Kingpin »

Considering a 450 BM purpose built to run with a suppressor.

How quiet would a can built for a BM be on a subsonic 300 BO?

I know it won't be quite as effective as some gas will pass through the bigger bore but how much would it suppress the report?

I cannot speak directly to your setup, but I run 5.56 thru my 30 cal can and it is definitely hearing safe (even with super sonic ammo).

Thanks for the reply. Glad it is at least that effective. If you ever get the chance I would be extremely interested in hearing how subsonic 5.56 sounds through the .30 can.

Way back when, I put some 300 BLK subs from a 16” AR thru my .45 pistol can. It worked but I don’t remember it being great.

I have a .45 can in Batfe jail. It is rated for .300blk subsonic. I figure that if you are under 1200 fPS - and the caliber is .308 - it should work. I have not had the chance to try yet.

I run 300 Blackout through a Hybrid 46 on both a bolt action and a gas system. On the AR, it's not as quiet as my 762 Saker. On the bolt action, it's Hollywood quiet.

I run 300 Blk through my Hybrid 46 as well. Was pleasant surprised by the performance and don't bother changing end caps anymore and leave the .46 on. Chances of a baffle strike go way down this way!

It works fairly well but I disagree with the hearing safe comment. You still need to wear hearing protection. As a medical provider, my experience is if it causes ringing in your ear or ears, even a small amount, it will cause damage to your hearing over time. If you doubt what I say, ask an audiologist.
