Looks like a good carry case to me. Just be careful not to melt it to the side of the tube at the range.

Good idea as the Optimus has lots of parts. I may have to talk to the power tool reps at my next trade show for some free bags.

I got a stainless thermos from eBay for about ten bucks that I use for my Saker. I forget what size but it's lunch box or personal sized and the bore is about right for the OD of the can. Sure the lid isn't very heat resistant but the inside is all stainless.
This way if it's red hot I don't have to juggle it much. You can also just slip the thermos over the end and deal with removing the can later.
