I've been shooting USPSA steel matches at a club nearby for the last few years. Twice a month without fail, rain and even snow hasn't stopped the shooting. I just got an email that the shoot this coming Saturday was cancelled due to lack of participants; this will be the 3rd cancellation of the year for the same reason. I know it's not that people aren't interested. It's that no one has ammunition or reloading supplies in stock. People (myself included) don't want to shoot the last of our ammunition not knowing when or where we will be able to find more.

Just curious how widespread this is.

Everybody is in hoarding mode. I haven't shot many IPSC or Steel matches for a long time but I would have a hard time going and shooting 100-150 round matches right now, not knowing when supplies will be widely available again. Hell, I haven't even gone out to shoot my weekly 40-60 rounds of Blackout for a month and I'm sitting on all the powder, primers, and bullets I need to shoot like that for a couple of years.

Things are still going fine in Colorado, despite bullshit anti-gun legislation being pushed down our throats.

It was 13 degrees and a 5-10 mph wind last Sunday, but we held a 6 stage USPSA match. Almost 40 people showed up.

This summers Wednesday night steel matches might be a different story.

No cancellations due to low participation in Oregon that I know of. I am thinking of lowering the round count on my typical high-rd-hoser USPSA matches. I know that the best facility here as lowered their avg rd count in interest of keeping people shooting.

We actually have had more people turn out for matches.

We seem to be doing better as well.
Local Walmart has 9mm, 40 S&W, 45acp, and 223 on the shelf about all the time now.
Reloading components are still thin. Two of the 3 stores I buy components in have A1680 on the shelf.
I believe both also had H110, Unique, and HP38 on the shelf.
The selecton of bullets still is not good.

I have had to "slow my roll" with USPSA matches.
More for budget & time reasons than the shortage.

The shortage definitely causes it to take more time to find ammo & components though.
So I guess in that aspect, the shortage has impacted my Match participation.

No one dares attend a comp here in NY,, the Gestapo will most assuredly be there to imprison and harass free citizens in the name of the global socialist empire. Ammo is available only just recently and best if you obtain it out of state and you sneak it back behind enemy lines into NY. My AR now wears the FRS15 stock, not the most comfy nor ergonomic of stocks, but it removes the pistolgrip feature of the AR legally.


I have recently gotten into air rifles for simply getting trigger time. Modern air rifles are not toys, they are highly lethal hunting weapons, my new Airforce 25 cal Condor has an integral suppressor and can produce a 1" group at 100 yards and can easily drop a yote with a noggin shot at that range.

Road Trip. I would drive a long way for powder. Would you say exactly where they have powder on the shelf? No way would I shoot up my meager stash on a competition.

I'll admit to being one of those people who has had to stop competitions due to monetary concerns as well as scarcity of powders. I didn't get into reloading till about 8 months ago and have a hard time getting the powder I do have. Even started casting too but doesn't help when I only have a lb each of Lil Gun and W297 for my blackout.
