Well said Jim, I think you laid out a clear plan of action, that actually seems achievable. Be great to see things go that way in the next 4 (or 8, fingers crossed) years.

I'd like to go after SBR's this session, but I haven't gotten around to contacting Reps to try to pen a bill yet. It seems like an easy sell if you make the case that they were listed in a failed attempt to ban pistols, and we still have pistols without the NFA BS.

It also seems like when you stack a bullpup up against a SBR AR, the OAL favors the longer barreled shorter platform; so we can make the case that the law doesn't achieve what it intended to and thus should be expunged. The Keltec RFB has a 24" barrel (the one I had did) and is the same length as a 16" carbine AR. I need to look at the P90 again before I try to wrap it up in a concise "package" that can be shared in a single visual (like a meme for expanding our rights) that we can start using to drum support.

One issue with legislation is that it takes time to get the word around to enough people to make hearing a bill worthwhile. Unless we educate our legislators ahead of time, it falls on deaf ears if it makes it out of committee and people who might not oppose it still don't get on board because they don't know enough about it to weigh in.

HPA is a prime example: it's been in existence for 3 sessions now. Never went anywhere in '15, got some more momentum in '16, and now we're in '17 with a lot of Reps signing on as co-sponsors and a Senate sibling bill (which is mandatory for passing the law). That's how you get shit done.

'Repeal the NFA' petition is at 91,000 signatures. If you haven't already then go sign it.
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-nfa

The HPA has been sent to committee "The Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations". This is the same spot it died last time. I wrote my rep, Rep. Cedric Richmond (D). Apparently, he is not a fan.
Here is the list of this committee's members:
Republicans:
Chairman Trey Gowdy (SC-04)
Vice Chairman Louie Gohmert (TX-01)
Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, Jr. (WI-05)
Rep. Steve Chabot (OH-01)
Rep. Ted Poe (TX-02)
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (UT-03)
Rep. John Ratcliffe (TX-04)
Rep. Mike Bishop (MI-08)
Rep. Martha Roby (AL-02)
Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04)

Dems:
Ranking Member Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18)
Rep. Ted Deutch (FL-22)
Rep. Karen Bass (CA-37)
Rep. Cedric Richmond (LA-02)
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08)
Rep. David Cicilline (RI-01)
Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-33)

Blow up their inboxes. ASA makes it super easy: http://americansuppressorassociation.co ... ction-act/

Rep. Ted Deutch (FL-22)

Literally no point in contacting this Deutch. See what I did there. All I can do is keep voting against him.

Gowdy and Chaffetz need to be pushed on this. They didn't get results on all the investigations. Now is the time for results, put up or shut up.

The HPA, while not how I would want things, is a step in the right direction. I fully support the concept of completely destroying the NFA, and the ATF for that matter, but the reality is, that will not happen, at least not in one fell swoop.

I can accept, for now the step of listing suppressors equivalent to pistols, even though as others have stated, they are not firearms. IF we can get the HPA thru, in the process take away the stigma of , only "assassins and snipers need suppressor". Then maybe we can begin to show the silliness of calling a muffler a firearm.

The whole NFA needs to go. But again, reality, we will never get that in one bill. Start with suppressors, then move onto SBRs, SBS, AOW, then maybe we can get MGs. Although in honesty, I think the best we can hope for there is that the will open the registry to be able to add more MGs.

An example, in my state of NC, we were able to push thru legalizing hunting using suppressors. Then when it was obvious that doing so did not create the mass poaching, the the naysayers predicted, we were able to push thru removing restrictions on SBRs for hunting.

We did make 100,000 signatures this morning on the repeal petition. Now if we can get the congress critters to uphold their oaths  maybe we can get it passed. I'm sure the machine gun infringements will be retained. 105,776 signed as I post here.

Something must be wrong. The Washington Post and NPR have both published articles that are unbiased and even pretty favorable for the HPA within the last couple of days.

No matter what you read on the intarweb CCI450s and CCI41s ARE NOT BALLISTICALLY IDENTICAL with H110! I'm also not a intarweb lawyer so I don't argue with anyone who is.
