Gemtech 300 Blackout upper with recessed silencer

Post by A-Game »

I was at the Small Arms Review Gunshow (working all weekend)
Several manufacturers were on hand including Vltor, Battle Arms Development, P.O.F., Sig Sauer, KNS Precision, Black Rain Ordnance, Gemtech, and many others.
I spoke withand had hands on with Gemtech and they are introducing, at shot show, a complete upper receiver that will have an 8" barrel, a GMT Silencer, and the silencer will be recessed under a seekins keymod handguard. The silencer body will be welded (sodered?) to the barrel so that the baffle stack can still be removed for service or load development (if the titanium silencer body can handle the muzzle pressure).
Gemtech also said they are re-releasing their 187 ft subsonic load with new powder. The powder they were using sucked. It was imported from the Czech Republic and it would gum up the action. According to the Gemtech rep I was speaking with the powder is exceptionally clean burning and they are getting SUBMOA accuracy at 100 yards.

Another tidbit is that the owner of Gemtech is really good friends with Donald Trump JR and Trump JR has been encouraging his Dad to pass the affordable silencer act...uh...I mean the HPA.

Some of my conversations with other manufacturers I am keeping under my hat right now. I will reveal them in other posts.

Sweet. And good news about the new powder. The old powder really did suck and left granules in the action like powdered soap.

I'd guess they'd have to pin and weld the serialized can to the barrel to keep it a one stamp gun and still have the baffle stack be removeable. Monocore or K baffles or what was in there? I hear DD is upgrading that integral of theirs as well, I hear the first gen was pretty loud. Be interesting to see this new GT design. I love my Leo, but working loads up (down) is always a hairy ordeal.

I need to look into it but it sounds like the EPA or ATF wasn't allowing powder shipments into the country and there was a powder shortage in 2014 for the companies that use European powders. They said Hornady was calling them and begging for powder.
It will be slower tomorrow so I'm going to go talk to them again. I have a few questions and I won't be at Shot Show.

I'm guessing it will be a larger version of their 10/22 integral.

Baffle is pinned to the barrel, serialized portion is the tube. It is a very nice setup and seems to be very quiet. The one I was able to see and hear was a real sweet unit mounted in a Manners stock.

Actually, he removed the baffle stack so that it is still serviceable. It is the tube that is welded to the barrel. He said it is safe for supers and subs.

That will make it very difficult to clean the tube, and that is pretty important on a serviceable suppressor.

A few years ago they were basically pinning the GMT 300 for a one stamp SBR. I was hoping they turned that into an integral like they did for the Ruger.
