Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
I bought one. I'm going to cut it and thread it for my next SBR
I wanted to get in on the first time the AAC barrels were under 200.00
I don't need the AAC flash hider because I don't have an AAC can.
Thanks for posting

Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
I purchased one a couple of years ago when they were on sale for $129. It's a nice barrel with pinned gas block. I haven't been able to get quite the accuracy I can get from my Daniel Defense barrel but it's quite a bit lighter.
No matter what you read on the intarweb CCI450s and CCI41s ARE NOT BALLISTICALLY IDENTICAL with H110! I'm also not a intarweb lawyer so I don't argue with anyone who is.

Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
Yeah, I hadn't been planning to order one for myself because they didn't specify gas system length and I know AAC made a bunch of 16" barrels with carbine gas, and I don't really trust the picture even though it looks like pistol gas. But I ended up getting one anyway on the theory that it's still a good price and I can probably trade it off later if I end up not using it. If it does turn out to have pistol gas I am going to have it shortened to 12-13 inches and threaded, for an extra SBR'ed lower that I have.

Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
I have one each of AAC's carbine and pistol gas 16" barrels. I haven't done much accuracy testing with the gun assembled with the carbine gas barrel as it is my daughters but the pistol gas barrel has been very accurate for me due to developing loads specifically for it. Check my posting in the sub sonic challenge as well as the pet loads section.
The one thing I didn't care for with the pistol gas barrel is that ejection/recoil was harsh for the cartridge until I installed an AGB and turned it way down.

Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
I will measure the gas port of the pistol gas barrel when it comes in. I'm not worried about the photo vs what arrives. I'll call tomorrow and ask what it is and then post results. The carbine gas 16" shoots very accurate. I can open the gas port if it is too small. It is 0.120 on the 16" carbine gas so I am curious if it is the same.

0.109" - 16" carbine gas barrel
0.082" - 16" pistol gas barrel

Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
I'll be pleased if mine turns out to have pistol gas with an .082" port like yours, so I can open it up until I get the function I want. My current 10" SBR has an .098" port.
Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
I wish my carbine gas 16" barrel had a gas port of 0.82, if it did I could open it up a tenth or so. Instead it is too large and I am contemplating selling the barrel or just tacking the hole and drill the size I want. I might do that anyway
Actually, I think I'll do that Friday morning before the range session and see if it will cycle the two types of subs I have and lock back the bolt.

Re: AAC manufactured 16" AR barrels
Barrel arrived, pistol gas. Port looks to be fairly small, though I haven't measured it yet.
Edit to add, .081" gas port, or #46 drill bit. The #45 (.082") would not pass.
