I put several 5.56 rounds through a black Tavor this week. It was quite the experience. I liked the rifle even better than I thought. It was very accurate despite the heavy trigger and Eotech. We were routinely making hits at 200 yards in every position, supported and unsupported. The controls are different but workable. The weight and balance are very different but if I had one six months of working with nothing but a Tavor would make everything second nature.
I don't know why they didn't market the rifle in the US with magpuls, an ambi safety and two charging handles. The left hand bolt price is not bad at all. If I had one I don't know that I would SBR it since the stock 16.5" barrel is a nice overall package once you get used to the weight.
While a 300 conversion kit might be nice I wouldn't care for a 9mm. The package weighs to much overall.

The AR has transformed for so many years it would be hard to better in----price,weight, accuracy, trigger pull. Before I would go with cool factors at that price I would get a JP upper and put 300 in a trigger system. There is nothing wrong with 77 gr. 223. Going to a short barrel a 300 BK in an AR Platform seems perfect. To each his own ideas at what is best and the type of targeting desired.

I'll be really interested to see some review on the 300BO version, mostly to see how well it feeds various ammo types with and without a suppressor. I really liked my Tavor, other than the weight, and I don't see any way to avoid buying the new version if they are reliable.

The Desert Tech MDR will have 300 Blackout in SBR, 16" barrel and a 19" barrel.
Now the bullpup SBR is a compact rifle.
Tavor may be popular and with great Weapons out of Isreal like the FAL and Uzi it's great.
But...if I was going to drop 2000 on a weapon system it would be a SCAR 17
700.00 buys you a 9" BCM upper that gives you a 5 lb SBR.
Bullpup a weigh like 8+ lbs
Just different methods to do the same thing.

Re: IWI Tavor, 300Blk
Looks like IWI finally cut loose the X95 in a civilian version as well. I'm thinking this will be my next IWI, rather than the Tavor. Sounds like it will be later this year, but I can wait.

A guy ran a Tavor in advanced carbine class and unfortunately it choked on ammo over and over again..
It was definitely not impressive.

A guy ran a Tavor in 5.56 beside me in a three day carbine class last year, it ran flawlessly even when we ran a drill trying to get our guns to puke.A-Game wrote:A guy ran a Tavor in advanced carbine class and unfortunately it choked on ammo over and over again..

It was impressive and made me consider buying one as well some day.
