Damn!
The folks over at Lehigh Defense seem to never rest.
Apparently they have yet another 300 BLK specific projectile coming to market.
I came across it while checking out one of IV8888's YouTube videos titled "What Bullets Do In Real Life".
http://youtu.be/U0NTjd-Cx0I
It is a 78 Grain projectile with a brass base and an Aluminum tip.
I do not have a photo of it, but it looks just like the 112 Grain 300 BLK AP bullet.
It looks as if they replaced the steel tip from the AP bullet with an Aluminum tip.
According to the video, the product is so new that they do not have a name for it yet.
I'm really looking forward to hearing more about this bullet.
What advantage does this product offer over the 110 grain Controlled Chaos?
(Less penetration, better "barrier blind" performance, larger bullet fragments?)
Hopefully Lehigh Defense will come along shortly and provide us some additional detail.
Updated to add photo of the new cartridge from Lehigh's site.

Now that would be a decent bullet for shooting Yotes.
Lehigh is really on the move with innovative ideas for the 300blk platform!

I'd say around 2650(ish)fps from a 16" barrel.

Re: Lehigh Defense 78 Grain 300 BLK CQD Projectile
In a 16 inch barrel 110 grains can be pushed past 2500 pretty easily, 2600 takes some tricks in an AR, but is not a problem in a bolt action.
I am thinking close to 2800. How it flies is a better question.

I wonder if that sucker could make major power factor.

Tagged for Lehigh's response...
At first I thought this was their AP bullet, but misidentified, but then I saw the tip is aluminum.

Will a bullet that light function outta an AR? I mean we are back into 223 weight range, with a 30cal bore.
If the bullet comes apart like a TAP round or V-max it might make one hell of a HD round. Useable inside without huge over-penetration issues. Swap in a mag of Blacktips or SST's for outside use

In the video that I linked, it functioned just fine in an AR platform.Sharkbite wrote:Will a bullet that light function outta an AR? I mean we are back into 223 weight range, with a 30cal bore.
It is my understanding that this projectile is intended for just that.Sharkbite wrote:If the bullet comes apart like a TAP round or V-max it might make one hell of a HD round. Useable inside without huge over-penetration issues. Swap in a mag of Blacktips or SST's for outside use
Hopefully Lehigh will come along and provide some more info in this thread...
