Re: New Remington 300 BLK UMC Subsonic ammunition.
I have access to Solidworks, but can't design with the program myself. I have to pay dudes to do that for me. I may have a magazine, 300blk case and proposed bullet shape modeled up to check for interference. Or, I'll spend $95 bucks and get a mold made. Design time isn't cheap, and the molds are at less than a hundred bucks. That won't even buy 2 hours of design.
An enterprising company with a vested interest in this cartridge (cough) could do all this and start selling 300 Blackout subsonic bullet molds if they were so inclined. Would save me a bunch of trouble!
That said, I've got very little in the way of casting experience. Would this shape even pour?
DESIGN - BORE RIDING SECANT
AS CAST DIAMETER - .308"
CAST WEIGHT - 220GR +/- 2.5
BULLET LENGTH - 1.573"
MEPLAT % OF DIAMETER - 10%
LENGTH INSIDE CASE - 0.583"
REQ. TWIST - 1:7"
I know some of these dims are not right for the application, was just looking for a general shape.

I got a couple of boxes of this new ammo locally today. There are some small dents and dings on the brass, but they should shoot just fine.

This is what I would think.300Blk wrote:Pouring is not the problem. The ogive will likely bend when it hits the feed ramp.
Brass for sale or trade. Pm me with what you need and how much for availability and prices. Willing to trade for big bore thumper barrels.
