Re: 6.8 Question
I'm going to go with a 6.5 Grendal. But I also have a 6.5 Mannlicher Schoenaur.

Re: 6.8 Question
I like my 6.8's I just don't shoot them that often.
Who am I kidding a rarely get to shoot at all, but the 6.8 is a great round from 0-400. 6.5 really shines beyond 400. So if you are going to make a long game of it the 6.5 is the winner. If inside 400 the 6.8 makes quick work of pigs.

Re: 6.8 Question
There is a new cartridge being developed called a ".277 Wolverine." It is a 6.8 based on 223/5.56 brass similar to 300 BLK. It is reported that it is just a little low in velocity and energy of the 6.8 SPC, but like the 300 BLK uses the standard 5.56 bolt and magazines.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
Re: 6.8 Question
Dang bang, can you feel the love?!?
I've got to tell you, to be honest, I conceptualized the 6.8 17 years ago (but with a 6.5mm caliber, rather than the .277" they went with). I've got a wildcat 6.5 (based on the 6.8 case and identical to what I conceptualized on paper 17 years ago) in a Recce-Rifle-ish carbine that I love. It's a kick-butt round out farther than I can shoot well... (It's probably an honest 700-800 yard cartridge, but will do anything the 7.62 NATO will do and do it better at any range...) That said, with the 6.8's lower-BC bullets, it's sacrificed some range, but it's still a good 500-600 yard cartridge.
I love both the 300 BLK and the 6.5/6.8 and see no reason for either round to disparage the other. (That was all marketing BS drummed up by the separate rounds developing companies.) The truth is the 6.5/6.8 is a fantastic round for 250-500 yard shots, and the 300 is a fantastic round for 0-300 yards. My 300 is a Mk.18-ish "pistol" because it's low expansion ratio can take advantage of a shorter barrel and doesn't gain a huge amount in a long barrel. My 6.5 is a "Recce Rifle," because 16-18" gets most of the velocity we need, without making it a large rifle. Mine has a 16" bbl, but an 18" bbl might have been a bit better.
If you go with a 6.8, check out AR Performance. The owner is awesome and goes above and beyond in tweaking things like rifling, chamber design, and finishes. His prices are reasonable for custom as well.

Re: 6.8 Question
I bought what he calls the Six5, his 6.5 wildcat based on the 6.8. Absolutely love it.MMA10mm wrote:If you go with a 6.8, check out AR Performance.

Re: 6.8 Question
Gotta say, the 6.8 SPC round is really flat and holds its energy so awesome on pigs! I had my 6.8 SPC II before the 300 BLK became popular so I have both. My 300 is more fun to shoot but for hogs, still going with the faster .270 based 6.8... oh and yeah, I agree the guys on the 68Forum are kind of pricks so I dont post on that board much anymore. LOVE shooting my suppressed BLACKOUT!!! (I take th .30 can off and snap it on my 6.8 for hunting...)

Re: 6.8 Question
I have a 6.8 SPC in the safe and building a 6.5 so I must be a ignorant, arrogant prick, thanks for letting me know
