Next time someone compares Australia

Post by Walkers Bay »

Next time some one compares the mass buy back and disarmament of law abiding citizens in Australia and says oh it's so safe there now.

Just remember that it an absolute fabrication. It's only the honest people who handed them in.

And a side note. The have had armed guards at Jewish schools for near on 20 years for fear of Muslium attacks.

Interesting article.. However, comparing Australia to the US in virtually any metric is dishonest, except land mass size.

Approximately 90% of Australia is inhabited by Australian or European descendants. Most of the rest are Chinese or Indian [from wikipedia..]. There are 50% more African Americans (39million) and twice as many Hispanics (59million) in the US as there are PEOPLE living in Australia (24million). This is important since MOST of the US violent crime tends to come from these two demographics. There are an estimated 2.6million Muslims in the US - 10% of the entire Australian population! Simply put, the demographics of the US do not compare to other 'First World Countries'. In my opinion, this invalidates ANY claim of comparison between the US and other 'First World Countries', especially as it related to crime statistics - other countries tend to represent largely homogeneous demographics.

Australia (or Japan or England - other favorite comparison countries to the US in relation to gun control) doesn't have a 2000+ mile land border with any other nation - the US has 2 - one of which I would consider a 3rd world country. This is important because it directly relates to drug trade and crime.

Of course, when it comes to firearms... Well, the US has a 2nd Amendment. Australia does not have such a declaration.

Completely agree. IMHO, this is the type of information that the NRA, GOA, ... needs to be pushing. Be on the offensive. Be non-PC and directly attribute most of our violent crime to the fact that we are a 'melting pot' whereas other countries are NOT. Playing defense isn't doing much politically. Ask those that want gun control or confiscation in the US why they are racist and misogynist, as gun control laws disproportionally impact minorities, women, and the poor.

Yes you are entirely correct, except the media feed the uneducated what ever story sells the best.

England has it own failed experiment of gun control happening at the moment and they DO have a right to keep and bear arms however they let their government murky and dilute this to the point of civilian disarmament. Now they have criminals funnelling in Eastern block automatics, grenades and handguns and running a muck.

Concur; and it's not just England that is realizing what happens when a largely homogeneous society becomes heterogeneous. Germany, as well as other European countries, are learning it too. Unfortunately, they are learning it the hard way.
