ATN x-Sight II 3-14 300 blackout profiles

Post by rambie »

For those who might use the ATN x-sight II 3-14 power scope, I created an XML file that loads profiles and changes the zero based on distance and bullet weight.

Caveats: This profile is tested on a bench rest AR, normally, accurate to ~1.5" @ 100 yds., on a "lowest bidder" AR. (I had to put a o-ring in the forward takedown pin post to stop the wobble between thee upper/lower, so make no pretenses. ) I don't have any opportunity to shoot past 150 yds, so 300blk is a good choice for me with SiCo Hybrid. Even supers are pretty well tamed by this setup. Subs are sweet. People stop to watch. Popping pigs at night with subs inside 100 yds the goal.

Summary:
I found on my generic AR, you only really needed four groupings.
--Supersonic, any distance to 150 yds, all the same.
--Two profiles for 187-190 grain at 50 and 100 yds
--Two profiles for 200-208 grain at 50 and 100 yds.
--Curiously the 75 yd range for both 187-190 and 200-208 zeroed the same. At least within "minute of pig"
Everything was tested with the can on.

Ammo tested:
Sig Sauer 120 gr HT solid copper bullet "Hunting" round. (Took a deer with this, nice humane kill)
Hornady 110 VMAX
Fiocchi 150 Grain FMJ BT
Some other Hornady 110-125 grain, no 135.

Sub:
Gemtech 187.
I just got the new Hornady SubX 190, so that's not tested.
Sellier & Bellot 200
Hornady AMAX 208 "Black"
I tested some other 208, and they zeroed reasonably the same.

NOTE: this ATN sight can only handle up to 8 profiles (numbered 0-7). You will get errors if you exceed. I made six.
To load, FIRST, back up your current profiles. Loading profiles from the SD will overwrite anything in scope memory!
Take the text below, starting with: <?xml version="1.0" and to the end, copy to windows notepad.
Save it. close it.
Rename the file to: oprofiles.xml
Put on a SD and and install in scope.
Menu over to profiles and import.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Re: ATN x-Sight II 3-14 300 blackout profiles

You put some time and effort into that file  . I find way to many enviormental, velocity and bullet B.C. variations to have a generic template zero profile. On a given day shooting 300 Blackout subs even a slight change in humidity will cause tremendious P.O.I. shift with groups, that is one reason I plug in current daily weather conditions and open the smart shooting solution program. All load data with weather is crunched and a corrected reticle is centered with Y/X. I used this method to zero from 50 yards out to 200 yards with 180 grain subs.

I understand profiles to be ballistic copies of the given load to have exact results.

Just my field experiences with the ATN X-Sight.
One ragged hole! The quest for accuracy continues...
