Why 125 sst over 125 nos bt
I have a sub moa load for my 700 aac with 125 Nos Bt's and I have been reading where most people prefer the 125 sst over it. Please in lighten me on what I'm giving up with the NBT?

Preference
I like to shoot them both. Keep them both in stock and would not hesitate to use either on a deer/hog hunt. Although I want to push the Barnes 110 through one first!!

If they are shooting well for you there is no reason to change, other than trying a new flavor.

I am still testing, one last confimation string to go, but so far I am getting better accuracy (1/2 MOA better) out of my AR at a higher velocity (100 fps) with the SST over the Nosler BT which should translate to a better hunting load

Re: Why 125 sst over 125 nos bt
The reason I prefer the Hornady SST over the Nosler is that the ogive on the SST is a little better suited to avoid jamming on the magazine ribs. The cheaper price is a bonus as well.
Re: Why 125 sst over 125 nos bt
I will definitely try the 125 sst and see if I can get the same accuracy the 10 $ would be nice. As far as their performance on deer inside 200 yds am ingood with the 125 NBT? I have never hunted with the BO. Thx.
Re: Why 125 sst over 125 nos bt
The 125Nosler BT green tip is a great bullet from the 308Win and 300 Savage, but due to it's boat tail & ogive design it is very limited in seating positions and leaves a lot of performance on the table. The 125 SST being a flatbase and 300blk compatible profile is far better suited to the 300blk cartridge design and providing maximum potential.
Nosler's are overpriced and not as commonly available compared to the Hornady offerings, Nosler seems to not have expanded their production capabilities to meet the far greater demand of the past few years.

For me, the 125 SST was also easier to work with. Better accuracy, over a broader velocity range.

I have shot both on paper. Both shoot great.
Personally I feel it's 100% cost. The SST is a new comer a up start on a road PAVED by the Nosler ballistic tip. I have been using them since they came out! Shooting them on deer from my 14" 30/30 contender. That was the original jackets too. They worked FINE! Then they changed the jacket to the tapered jacket that they have now and the bullet was made better for the larger calipers and yet still in the velocity range for the smaller calibers.
Every SST I have shot game with was shown to be a little lightly constructed. This is a plus for use in the 300! Same for the FTX line. These too expand easy and completely when pushed harder. The 160 30/30, 200 454 and 225 452 all expand easily and actually come apart before top recommended numbers are reached if bones are hit. This is from 4-6 deer and bear per bullet over the last few years. I wanted to use the 160 FTX in the black. But can't get good consistent expansion in my tests. So bel is too low. Have t tried the 140 mono flex.
Back on topic, use what you can get either the SST or NBT will put deer, pigs in your freezer!
