Either a Leupold 1.5-4 or a Leupold 2-7. I have one of each and love them.

The quick turrets are constantly getting knocked out of adjustment during transport and I lost one of the adjustment screws that holds the turret on. You can't buy the replacement screw (which is proprietary) so for a $3 part you are in for a multi month ordeal replacing the whole scope under warranty. The are lots better options out there for the same money.
I haven't had the issues with knocking them out of adjustment, but I've found that trying to get a good sight picture when testing new loads on paper is tough with reticle being the way it is. It's a great little scope, but I probably wouldn't buy it again. I really like the Nikon scopes though

I've got 2 Leupold Firedots. One at 1.5-4x, the other 3-9x. I used them fairly interchangeable between my 223, 308, and 300 depending on what I'm doing.

Used the 1.5-4x this year deer hunting. The firedot was great for acquisition and tracking. My first deer, he sat there and waited for the bullet. 45 yard shot. The second, a doe running across a field at 175 is where I really saw the benefits of the firedot. Super easy for tracking.

I like Vortex as well. Just never put money down on one. Shot them on friends rifles.

I've always been partial to fixed scopes with prism scopes being my choice. I can't tell you how many times I've had higher power magnification only to search for the moving target...or low power wishing I had more magnification.

With fixed power, it's one less thing to think about.

The Burris fullfield e1 2-7x35 with the ballistic plex matches well with supers and it nice and lightweight. For a cheaper scope it has worked great for me.

For years, the standard for hunting rifles was 3-9Xxx and everyone who owned a rifle used those. I'm of the school that bigger is better. You may have few instances where you would need 20X, but the magnification is really nice to have should you need it.
Right now, I have a 4-16 on a 300 BlkOut AR, but I may put something lesser on it and move that one to one of the 308s. since I don't anticipate the 300 being much more than a 100 yard gun.

Why sell it short?

Unless I get a hunting invite, the longest range I have access to is 200 yards.
