Atlanta Arms 125gr nosler green tip test on TX hogs

Post by firedavis »

Well I finally got to go hog hunting with a mag full of Atlanta Arms 125gr Nosler green tips. After a good rain all night I figured I would find the hogs rooting around tearing up some fields. Sure enough after sun rise I came up on a group tearing up an oat field. I stalked with in about 70 yards but my wind was going straight at them so I figured I was close enough. I dropped the first one with a neck shot, then tagged the second one behind the shoulder, and then tagged a third one on the run dropped him but he jumped up and took off while I double tapped the second hog again. Had the two dead in sight and the third made it into thick brush and I didnt feel like crawling in after him. Overall I think the ammo performed well. Here are the hogs and a picture of the entry wound to the neck of the first hog I shot. Going again in the morning hoping to do some more ballistic testing on some more swine.

Very nice! Great to see their performance in making bacon.

What barrel length are you using?

Are those eating hogs or are you just helping the farmers?

Big boars we let lay. All others we make sausage/eat but you can only butcher so many before we just drag them off. Farmer wants them all killed and I don't mind pulling the trigger.

the boars don't taste bad, just have to be careful when skinning them out
