Best factory ammo for hogs?

Post by aquajon »

What would be the best FACTORY ammo for hog hunting? The Remington 125g SMK?
Distance would be inside 50 yards 99% of the time and I would be using an 8" barrel.

I know there have been some new bullet designs lately which look promising, specifically the Barnes 110g. But I don't know of anyone loading that in a factory cartridge at this time.

I used the Hornady 110gr and dropped one hog at close range but had to shoot him again in the head. Shot another small hog at 100yards but he jumped right up an hauled butt, never found a drop of blood. I am going to be trying Atlanta Arms 125gr nosler green tip this week. I will update on how they work on hogs.

..Hornady 110gr what.? They make different 110gr bullets.. Also, what was the POI and path.?
I'm asking 'cause I'm gettin ready to load up some hog huntin' subs and supers. I have a variety of Hornady 110's around I was planning to try. As well as some heavier. Ranges are generally under 50 yards.
Thanks.. d:^) Schneeks..

Along with the UMC I ordered a few days ago, I bought two boxes of that to play with. I'm hesitant to order the Accu-Tip due to price. I feel like the Barnes loading will not be too much longer a wait and will be similarly priced.
