I would add that I seem to have a noticeable decrease in unexplained flyers with almost any 300Blk headstamped brass over converted. I do spend the time to uniform primer pockets and flash holes, but not the necks on both cases.Dr.Phil wrote:The advantage of the Lapua brass is in the precision of its manufacture.
Unlike converted brass, the necks will be perfect thickness and be annealed.
In addition to that, the flash holes are drilled and not punched.
Bottom line, if you are looking for brass with the maximum accuracy potential, Lapua or Norma is the way to go.
For the majority of folks running ARs, converted brass is perfectly fine though.
I wouldn't run the high end brass unless I was using it in a bolt action.
The other thing I liked about using Norma brass, was that out of the box it was at the max end of spec. This allows being able to size it to my chamber for the first shot. Hopefully the Lapua will be the same.
