load data help please(165gr Hornady sst 30 cal. .308")
hello gentleman I'm new to the forum. I've been reloading for only a short time and I absolutely love it. I do everything by the book as safety is always my first concern as well as its been instilled in me from the military. Getting right to my question and I have searched all through the posts and I still haven't found any usable info. A family member got me a box of 165gr hornady sst bullets and I really want to load them for my 300blk but can't find any load data for this particular bullet. I don't have a hornady reloading book on hand. So I'm hoping yall can assist in this. Any info on this would be much appreciated

You didn't specify if you were wanting loads for subs or supers.
If it's subs you want, I have a couple loads posted here

thanks this is great info but it brings up another question. A1680 is hard to find in my neck of the woods. the only powders that I can get for 300blk and I have both are A5744 and HLIL'GUN so can 1680 be replaced for either one of these and if so what is the correct amount. again thanks

lil gun will run them as supers' just fine.
according to hornady's 9th ... start charge is 10.8 grains, max is 14.5 grains @ 2.215 COAL.
if you need a 1680 replacement, try to find some 'shooters world blackout' powder. its (repackaged) DO-63.2, probably the closest thing to 1680 you're going to get, although it burns cleaner.
however - please note that you wont likely get enough velocity out of that bullet in a blackout for any kind of expansion, so they're not going to be recommended for hunting.
they should punch paper just dandy though and when i was playing with 168 amax in mine... they thump the steel pretty damn nice!
hth
ps: you can get a copy of the hornady's 9th edition for like $27 if you're a prime member - and i see it on sale regularly at the big box retailers for around $25 IIRC. since its one of the largest published datasets for 300 blackout in print right now... that alone makes it worth picking up.

excellent!!! I plan on get Hornady books soon it just that I usually don't use Hornady bullets. I usually use Sierra for all my reloads but these were givin to me so I wanted to test them out. So glad I found this forum. Thanks again for all the help.

At the top of the hand loading section the first line is suitable powders.

Scroll down to the links for accurate powder. There will be load data for both subs and supers using 5744.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Not sure how easy IMR 4227 is to find in your neck of the woods but in my rifles it works great with the mid range weight supers.
It's also been my go to on a lot of my subs but I haven't tried it on anything under 175 grain.
