Coated bullets for subs - which to buy?

Post by Borsig »

Looking to buy some coated bullets for making practice subsonics.

Who to buy from? I dont want to, or have the equipment to resize bullets.

Leatherhead? Missouri? Palmetto? Others?

I read a thread recently about uality and delivery problems with palmetto?

Who is the go to right now?

Thanks

I have only tried the 203 gr Palmetto. Im still working up a load, but so far, so good. No issues with receiving the rounds from them either. Sorry, not much help other than to say I 'think' most of that stuff you probably read about is cleared up. :|

The leather heads have been good so far in my rifles, but I've only fired limited rounds for load work up, or down I guess. Once my silencer is free, there will be many more sent down range.

I have shot all of those. I have had zero feeding issues with the palmetto 203 and the new leatherhead 220. On one of my rifles I had to widen the feed ramps for the MBC and leatherhead 240gr. All seem to shoot well with no issues in both my rifles. Just finished off my last 500 of the palmetto 203's and I am really liking the new 220gr Leatherhead bullet. Good service and fast shipping from all 3 companies

I highly recommend Leatherheads. The 220 have performed very well for me.

....if available, I'd suggest "sample packs" from each so you don't end up with a bunch of bullets that don't work for you & your equipment and the loss of funds to replace those non-working bullets.

Leatherhead 220s rock! Don't get them...I want more for ME! I have had good success with Palmettos as well, but Leatherheads are my go-to for my 8.5" AR.

I have had good luck with Palmetto bullets in my 3 Black Outs. (AR 9" pistol, AR 16"carbine and a Mini 14) the Mini 14 really likes bullets around 150 gr. so I feed it mostly 150 gr. Xtreme plated bullets for subsonic plinking.
