10 cent .308 bullets

Post by Joshua Seymour »

Anybody finding .308 jacketed bullets for around 8 to 12 cents a piece? Idk about weight or bullet profile as long as they are jacketed and NOT .30 M1 CARBINE BULLETS.

I don't think you'll have any luck there, sorry. Even the carbine bullets are around 15-17 cents. Rainier Arms makes very cheap carbine bullets, fully plated. No luck on anything close though, at least not that I've found.

Yep, you will most likely not reach that except with some exceptional luck. The M80 pulls were around $0.18 per and special sales on 123gr vMax or zMax were about $0.17 but then you add shipping costs and that brings that real cost up another cent or two so that is the reality. You can find a ton of .22 pills for 5.56 rounds cheap because of the sheer quantity that get produced. Now you CAN get down to the $0.05-0.10 per bullet probably if you cast your own from sourced lead, but those would be subsonic only. And a lot of effort plus lets be real, you have to invest in all the equipment and components to do that if you amortize that cost across a certain number of bullets, you again are adding a few cents per bullet. Sooooooo, find a favorite plinking bullet, find out what a "normal" cost is for those and just constantly look for sales and "blems" or "seconds" to keep cost down.

$0.10 per (150 gr)

$0.07 per round (123 gr) - note, cast, but coated, so they are ok in a suppressor

I would say that philosophy is marginal. When comparing Lehigh 110 CC ($36 for 100) to Barnes 110 TSX ($44 for 50), I'll take (in my opinion) the better performing, cheaper round. At 10 cents a round, as long as it's MOA at 50 yds, I would splurge $10 for 100. I don't eat coyotes, fox, or groundhog so the cheapest way to rid myself of them is good for me.

Cant thing of the name of them off the top of my head but vendor on here had plated 120gn for about $.12 each. They are Power Bond plated bullets rebranded and rated for 2000fps. I picked up 500 and was pleasantly surprised. Got .5" groups @ 50 yards with them.

I used to go to Hornady's plant and buy directly from them for about $12/100 but haven't been up there in a few years because I found a guy near me who was buying direct from Hornady and resaling for $10/100.
Unfortunately that source has dried up because Hornady decided to no longer sell directly to the smaller resalers. Last October I bought out my sources remaining stock, kept what I could use and sold off most of the rest.
I also buy a lot of over runs & blems from SPS, Midsouth & Midway

Highborn Outdoors. I have been pleased with them so far. Haven't shot groups or anything as they are just plinking bullets anyway.

I just picked up 1K at 0.04 ea. shipped, but it was a listing mistake and they honored it even after they called and told me they would not be able to fill it at that price. I was waiting for my CC credit to show up but instead FedEx showed up with them instead.

If your not in a rush keep checking M80 pulls, there are sales on and off on those and they work fine for me as plinkers
